R1 2007 South vs Eagles @ Encounter Bay

So, who will be making the trek down to Victor for this match?

South had the wood on the Eagles last year. They were a few seconds away from winning at Woodville and in their last encounter at Noarlunga they thrashed the Eagles in every facet of the game. I was glad North beat them in the Semi last year because I do rate South as a very dangerous team.

These two sides probably have the most settled line ups in the competition. Neither have had too many changes in the off-season and Fuller and Pyman are two of the longest current serving coaches in the SANFL. Both would be realistically striving for a top three finish.

Definite outs from the Eagles premiership team for this week will be Westbrook, Inkster (inj), Skipworth, Potter and Cicolella (suspended). Major outs for South are Cupido, Iljecsen (inj) and Davey. Will be interesting to see how Prendergast and Schwarze go for their new clubs.

It promises to be a great game and is hard to pick a winner. I hope I'm wrong, but South have been very impressive in the pre-season and I expect them to start the game slight favourites with a home zone advantage...

Already got 1 bus going, need more people to put name down for another bus. For those who can't get down there, get to Woodville Oval for the 17's and 19's starting at 11.15am

Quite right too. You'd have to go through the southern slums to get there.

I don't think Zak Hier will be playing either. Has the dreaded O. P. and will miss quite a few games. Lets hope Robert Fiacchi is ready to go. Most probably best for the reserves last week. A very much underrated player and his versitility is vital to the Eagles success.

Ferret you don't think that the Fiacchi boys are going for the same spot in the league team ?
Who do you think will take Cica's round 1 spot ?
Will the crows take Vince and drop knights ?

Bad news for Hier. We need all the key position players fit as we lack depth. Salter and Hier will be important players for us this year. Agree re Robbie Fiacchi. He is a quality player and can play tall or small. I definitely think there is a place for both Fiacchi's in the team. I wouldn't mind seeing them both work out of defence.

Whilst never having any problem around Prospect I agree, especially as you can take the Expressway and bypass all the southern suburbs.

Im thinking of going to this game to get my SANFL fix this weekend as my parents in law live about a 10 minute drive away from the ground.
To those who drive, remember to take the turn off before Victory just after the Fauna Park!
Much quicker, will take at least 10 mins off your drive.

Christ mate, I don't envy you, I never wanted to get any more south than Reynella and when we bought a house I made sure it was on a quiet street after renting on Grant Rd at Reynella for years. My best mate used to live near Colonnades and he moved to Seaford to get some peace and quiet, not much different down there for him unfortunately.
Now this topic has got nicely off topic.
I pick the Panthers for a win, the Eagles started off slowly last year too.

Inman Valley Rd - go through town and past the high school about 1 min past the high school. Next to the hockey fields on the road towards Yankallia and Back valley.

Nah, don't go that way, as I said the quick way is to take the Victor Harbor bypass road probably built since Tassie has been down there.
Just before you hit town (and just after the Fauna Park) there's a turnoff to Encounter Bay on the right, follow that right through and you'll eventually see the oval as its not far off the bypass rd.
