Sporting hub at Elizabeth?

I have heard that the dogs are intending to create a sporting hub around their current location by bringing the bowls club and rugby club under their wing, buying the vacant land at the back of the club and creating a mini-oval (max basheer reserve scenario) to be used for training purposes and relieving the stress on the playing surface, putting in some netball courts for Harlequin Netball Club and extending Grand Central to accomodate everyone.

Also the grandstand renovations and extension are anticipated to be completed during the season, including more professional player facilities including lap pool and new gymnasium.

Great news to hear about it all and really good to know the club is always looking at ways to both improve and put back in to the community.

Good stuff by the Dogs, they continue to lead the way in yet another aspect. Well done to all out there, sounds like an excellent plan.

Considering the way the Government is going with the shutting down of schools because they are too old and require maintence and replacing them with super schools, maybe Central could get hold of the land allotment for Freemont High and make it part of their training facility?

As long as their idea results in a flow of cash for the club they should go for it and take it with both hands!

Another suggestion for all SANFL clubs would be to do an analysis of how the Penrith Panthers Leagues club came to own 30+ venues in NSW. Grand Central is a good name that they could market to take over several venues and create several cash streams for the club.

Good idea but there are tax implications facing several NSW Leagues clubs and ultimately any SANFL club that expands it's business ventures. They will go from the "not for profit community" club tax category to a buiness category and the income tax rises significantly and there are less tax breaks or excemptions on income and spending.

North are currently monitoring this carefully due to having 2 licensed venues and the large income they bring in plus the plan for futher expansion or acquistions.

Spending extra income (other than debt recduction and normal operating costs) on overseas football developement trips is not such a dumb idea after all considering the tax benefits it can also bring?

What Elizabeth really needs is an indoor sports stadium. At the moment u cant play a game of indoor basketball in Elizabeth. Its a joke, i have to go to Gawler or Parafield Gardens to play.
If they are gonna build anything. Thats it!

They could raise funds by selling promotional hats, with "Centrals sporting hub" emblazoned upon them.

The only downside is that hub-caps tend to get stolen in that neck of the woods.

The grandstand itself I guess is staying the same, what is underneath is changing significantly.

1. The floor in the warm up area is gone, being replaced with a rebound ace surface.
2. The trainers facilities are being moved into the current gymnasium location
3. The players facility will include a lap pool, new gymnasium

I think that is it, in a nutshell.

Pseudo, thanks for not disappointing me - I named the thread with you and Borat in mind.

Any danger in increasing the size of the away team changing rooms so the reservse and league team can change in the same area for the sake of the away team match officals i.e. property stewards and trainers.

from that point of view centrals have the worst facilites for visiting teams bar none.

Glenelg room is small but at least it is big enough for two teams to be in their just...

I was thinking the same thing but its still bigger than some of the change rooms at Adelaide Oval or Footy Park ironically enough.

How about they make the oval 20m shorter and 10m thinner so I can actually see the game.

The difference between Footy Park and its small chagerooms (2,3,4 & 5) and the other grounds was that the were located next to the main room so the players walked into the next room to get their treatment, gear etc. Support staff only had to set up in the one location and warm ups and coaches address were all gerrally done in teh main rooms 1 & 6.

Adelaide has a contecting door betweens two and 3 so that problem is removed it is only the "away" team that gets room 1 and 4 that have the problem....the combened sapce of a back room at Elizabeth and the League away room or the 17s room when the juniors play is that are less than the old main rooms at Footy Pk (before the Crows and Power changes)

Yeah, its only an issue at double headers or finals. Twice last year I went into changerooms at Footy Pk and Adelaide Oval when the only spot I could take a pic was from standing on a change table, I had much more room at Elizabeth.

I think a majority of way rooms are poor but Centrals is no worse than some others in terms of size??? Have you seen the away rooms at Prospect?

A microphone might have helped though!

I think that having been beaten by the Bays a microphone wouldn't have been much use. ESP would've been better, as surely you were speechless....
