Excellent move by AFL Canberra, he'll do an awsome job, one of the most respected administrators of the SANFL in recent years and a real shining light for Norwood.
All the best David and well done AFL Canberra, smart appointment.
A big loss to the SANFL. One of the sort of people we can't afford to lose.

An extract of the Norwood forum re some of the article about Wark's appointment. I have highlighted an interesting bit that I would like the Norwood fan's in the know to comment on if possible (CP perhaps?)

The local competition will benefit from a new level of expertise based on Davids' practical experience backed by his MBA in International Sports Management.

He has strong marketing experience in the football world and is looking forward to creating new relationships for AFL Canberra with the business community and others. These skills were illustrated by the achievement of record numbers of membership, crowds numbers and income from sponsorships.

David has a consultative style and is looking forward to establishing good communication channels between AFL Canberra, its clubs, sponsors and other stakeholders. At Norwood, David made good use of modern technology to keep members and stakeholders informed of match day scores and other pertinent information.

How did he do that then in terms of the match day scores? Individual text messages to members or did Norwood have a secret scoreboard service on line like North have?

The article may be referring to the games against North where they made use of the NAFC online scoreboard?

BRPBRPB Im not a Norwood fan but I thought it was quite obvious, its the wonderful fans forum they have.

David did lean the way in using this medium to communicate with members and match day scores were on it most games, also fantastic the way he and the NFC were keen to make it apart of the new look official website. More than most other clubs do. Only WWT with Col D and maybe South with Phil H now could claim to be similar.

Think he used to run up a fairly large bill on his mobile BRBPP.

Closet Nwd fan maybe??

It was a serious question not a dig and my original point was not the fact he communicated well etc via the forum and website as he did a great job in terms of that but I was posing the question of how he kept members etc informed of match day scores if there was no similar service to what North offered?

I was answering seriously, he supported the Norwood forum and also supported making it a part of the official site and helped keep members etc informed of match day scores. North or similar services doesn't have anything to do with it as it didn't say anything about exclusivity.

It's a pity other CEO/GMs or clubs didn't do the same.

I never mentioned exclusivity. I am assuming he ensured the match day scores went on ASAP after each game if they had no scoreboard service. Personally I think the on-line match scoreboard should be a must for all clubs given the number of interstate and overseas supporters each team has.

Allowing the Nwd forum to have a link from the official website was a great move. Pity that was stopped at North given the hopeless hardly used forum on the official site!

You brought North somehow into the discussion hence the exclusivity mention. The article says nothing about an online scoreboard. It says modern technology was used to keep members and stakeholders informed and its entirely accurate.

Your obsession with North's online scoreboard (which has nothing to do with the article about David) is bewildering considering you're at most North games.

I think you must be the closet Norwood supporter with your obsession about such a small detail! :?

I don't have an obsession Wedgie and I don't particuly like the inference either. I raised the question initially because I was "curious" as to how Norwood through David Wark kept members informed of match day scores - it infers they are kept up to date goal by goal?. That's how I read it because it mentions match day scores. I'm not disputing how professional his communication etc is

See thats the point, you think it infers something which it doesn't which I explained to you.
"modern technology" can mean more than on online scoreboard my friend!
You're obsessed with North being better than everyone else at some things and take a lot of things the wrong way because of this obsession.
Not a bad thing, 99% of supporters out there are the same. I look at things a bit more objectively. ;)

No I agree with you 100 percent - I just though it odd the way it was worded. Good to see we don't always agree and your not modifying posts to bias the discussion - it backs up my arguement I'm having with "dumb and dumber" (Campbell and Calzy) on footysa!

PS Agreed! Shits me how some supporters just agree with each other aimlessly no matter how ridiculous a point made because they follow the same side. They're sheep. BAAAAA!

Obsessed and Obsession - pick your words more carefully makes me out like some "stalker" I'm "pedantically factual" which has obviously confused you!

P.S. Aren't North better at all things not just some?

When I first read this story, my initial thoughts were that it was reffering to a online score board simillar to Norths, so I can see where BPBRB was coming from. The article didn't say exactly what technology was used, I guess a lot of North supporters have got used to inovations like the online score board, and it was assumed that was the typw of thing the article was reffering to. It was until I read the later explanation that it became clear.

IMHO,

all clubs should have something simillar to Norths online scoreboard.

and

all clubs should embrace their fan forums, and link them to their official sites, as Norwood has.

IMHO the SANFL should have 4 live scoreboards every week.
If every club had one you'd have 8 clubs forking out for the technology, if the SANFL did it you'd only need to fork out for half of it.
There's usually 2 radio stations online these days anyway.

If Norwood thought so highly of David Wark, why were they so keen to see the back of him. I was told there was friction between board members and most votes on various issues centred on whether you were pro or con Wark and not what was in the clubs best interests. If true, its far from a healthy situation.
