Cupido off to Court again!

Page 84 of today's Advertiser has an article on Cupido (and presumably West) threatening to take South to Court over a release from the 1-35 list so West don't have to pay the higher transfer fee.

Could Cupido possibly do a "Tuckey" and divulge to all and sundry what he was really being being paid! It would certainly be a reasonable "big stick" to wave at South to ensure a quick resolution to this matter as I'm sure South don't need a third breach within 12 months.

Looks like South want it all ways.

Cupido played just about every game last year. South actually went to court to have him play in the final, but then decide he hasn't done the right thing. Very late decision and definitely nothing to do with having to cut their salary bill to fit in Prendergast, of course.

They then want to get a transfer fee on top of this after chopping his contract.

How they can fit in McGrath as well is beyond belief.

I thought when I opened this thread I'd see a photo of the Big Boy at a food court. ;)

Looks like Damian Cupido's got South by the short & curlies & they know it!
With their track record of salary cap dealings, I reckon the Panthers might have to pull their heads in over this one. :-$
Round 19 this season's gonna be very interesting when Westies head down the expressway to Polar Park!

The Carlton/South connection goes a lot further than the same club song & similar guernseys eh?

Cupido off to court again?! At this rate, South should install a weighbridge out the front of the court, might help pay off some of the fines!

I'm always amused by how people talk about the salary cap as if it actually means anything.

pardom my ignorance but...... Cupido was sacked so we do not have to play a clearance ???? let me guess, the president at west hasnt been in his job long.

A transfer still needs to be paid just not as much of one as he has been sacked.

last year when bays "sacked "troy butcher. he didnt go to Port for free.

Indeed I would say the magpies would have had to pay a transfer for both Jarjoula and Hargraves this year. Both sacked players. Cant say Im with West on this one.

What West want is for South to list Cupido outside the top 35 player list which will attract a smaller clearance fee and not the one South are chasing or the SANFL guidelines dictate West will have to pay. It would be absurd to rate Cupido outside the top 35 players at South but even so he shouldn't go at "full tote" odds because in essence South effectivley sacked him by slashing his contract on a technicality knowing full well he wouldn't accept and ask to move.

Port did have to pay a clearance for Hargy - not the amount set by the SANFL but thereabouts after both clubs came to an agreement when commonsense prevailed given that he was not required at North they still were not giving him away. I'm sure all clubs think the same!

His playing weight is a bit more than a mere technicality.

is it?

he never got dropped during the year because of his weight issues and south even went to court to get him to play in the finals..............surely if weight was the issue south wouldnt have bothered going to so much trouble to get him playing.

I was lead to believe that South exploited a loophole and did in fact list Cupido outside of their top 35 players, and it was through this loophole South were able to terminate his contract, perhaps a Panther fan can confirm or deny this?
