Had 5AA on in the car on the way home this morning and according to Bone McDermott he thinks that West and Port like South are over the salary cap.
Breaking news by Bone.
What sort of penalty should they get?

They should be forced to listen to Chris McDermott for a month.

And will just be under this year too. I understand the new CEO got the sanfl in, to check our figures on present recruits, plus opened up to them on who we still want. Smart move IMO so Bones got that one wrong.

Bone and Wildy actually talk a lot more about the SANFL than Dumb and Dumber ever do.
Probably a 20 min drive home and 15 mins were dedicated to the SANFL. Mind you I normally never listen to 5AA (I'd heard enough music for the night not having got to bed) so maybe I was just lucky.
Russell Ebert was also with them.
But Im sure that a panel consisting of 4 Magarey Medals, an inaugral Crows Captain/Glenelg Champ/North Coach and North champ would know more than most of us and Bone did say West and Port must be like South and over the salary cap.
Im with ya Bone, bloody cheats, throw the book at them!

Wedgie...I heard that as well but Bone was reading a fax/email from a listener, not his personal view...they did discuss it thought, even the tought of canning the salary cap....I would like that as it would get rid of all the false accusations on here...

i've said it before & i'll say it again we should not have a salary cap, we never had one for 100+ years & because the 'new kid on the block' (afl) says to have one we do, absolutely ridiculous

lets face it players have to earn just like in the workforce, eg, if i'm at company (a) & i'm on $75,000 per year & company (b) offers me $100,000 where do i go ? yes offcourse (b) because i have to set myself/family up the best i can, surely the same goes with footy in this day & age ?

is it not restraint of trade ??

The email was about South, Bone specifically brought up West and Port.
Nice try.

I wasn't hungover either. (I was still pissed - hangover will hit about 6pm tonight).

Im not sure why Bays supporters are supportive of Bone anyway. He only used the Bays as a stepping stone to go on and play for bigger (Crows) and better (North) clubs. Everytime I see a Motlop running around for us I still say a quiet prayer to the great Bone.

What does Bonehead care about the SANFL? This is the bloke that organises a Slow Down against SANFL finals.

Penalty for West: Disband the club.

Coorong is right

Mcdermott you are a complete tosser

West have had condon in who inspected the financials ay westies recommendation and gave it the green light with a few more players to come.

Never would he suggest the bays or the roosters at being near the cap

Nice try Wedgie, he turned back AFL offers prior to the Crows with the help of the Bays and the retention scheme (I've seen some of the old contracts so I know we were paying over the odds for a regular SANFL player circa 1990, independant of what he got from the retention scheme.

He wanted to coach the Bays first and foremost in 1997, but the club wanted the Stringers (history showed what a great decsion that was, the Motlops is just one example of how we lost with that selection decision   ) North was only a secondary consideration to him because he didn't get the Bays gig....he might have told you North supporters aftermatch that he was happy to be at Prospect, like Choco did to us in 93 & 94 but we knew deep down where his heart really was.... Coaches recruited from opposition clubs always say those sort of things.

In 95 an 96 when he wasn't getting a game at Adelaide he would come to Bays training (basically he would run off footy Pk jump in his car fly down Tapley's Hill rd park his car, jump the fence and join our training session).

The man is a Bays legend, always has and always will be, in his words it is home and he doesn't owe the club anything, we owe him. Unfortunately the example he set to our players was lost when teh Crows were formed in terms of dedication to the Black and Gold cause and putting his body on the line for the Bys guernsey.

You think merging them with Sturt is too severe?

They should supply 2 players each to Sturt, Sturt get to chose them and those 2 clubs should pay their wages. That will teach them, I know its a harsh penalty but for the good of the game I am sure Sturt will take part in it.

I plead Guilty lol.

I wrote that email and it was an attempt to justify the miserly fines handed out in the past.

I say strip the offending Clubs of all their Premiership points. Fining them is like saying to a felon, don't be a bad person or next time you'll face tougher consequences.
