One of the great traditions the Mini League has been scrapped by the SANFL, poor form, my son loves watching the lads running around and cant wait until he can do it, guess he wont now.

Only positive is they are going to let public on the ground for a kick at half time now.

ANother negative is these kids that play and their families wont get exposed to the SANFL...

yeah i heard that on the radio 'rumour' today i thought that is ordinary & like yours dutchy little bayman will be shattered as he's been dying to play it since he was 3, but we should've known by the add this year 'have a kick at half time' (tim shaw) just another nail in the coffin as it'll be less going but surely if each club bought say 30 jumpers & you then get a reserves player helping 'on the day' with their school coach what is the problem why would you need a sponsor anyway ?

Maybe they just didn't want to fork out for another radio advertisement as the one earlier this year proclaimed you could have a kick on the ground at half time!

There you go...I wanted to see a proper Mini League competition to generate interest...and this is what's happened.

In actual fact, if this is correct, what in the world is the reasoning behind this? Is this really going to promote the SANFL better? If it's just so you can have a kick at half time, just make the Mini League play on half the oval, the other half you can have a kick. Not that hard to fathom for whoever makes these decisions, ffs.

What a disgraceful decision. Like a lot of you I have fond memories of playing mini league (for the Bays against my beloved Blues, but I still patted Jumbo on the arse in the guard of honour!) and I really enjoy watching it. As a chalky I love it when kids from my school are playing. At Alberton this year against Sturt I remember about 16 kids on the field - I suspect one team didn't turn up. Most of these kids were Aboriginal and just displayed lightning fast skills and loads of flair. They had so much fun and the crowd was cheering them on. It was great to watch and I'm sure it made them feel like kings.

I love mini league as a tradition of the SANFL. I can't think of any reason why you would want to get rid of something so central to our 'local footy'. Surely we want more kids to go to the SANFL not less.

Plus it's fun standing on the hill cheering on the fat kid.

they should've had 2 x games of mini-league on the oval- twice as many kids/schools, twice the exposure

according to what i heard on the radio its because the sponsors have pulled out (it looks like i'll have to drink pepsi in protest)

Can't understand why Coke would pull out...they sponsor everything.

Surely someone else will sponsor? Vilis? Farmers Union Iced Coffee? Coopers? (Well maybe not the most appropriate for the Mini League, but still)

Gotta be someone out there who will sponsor...

The SA Footy mini league has a ring to it!

Absoluty disgusting effort SANFL & clubs .How much does it really cost to put on a mini-league game? After many years of watching (and hoping one of the Yr 6/7 players can't make it), Giffo jnr probably would've got a game next year as he will be in Yr 6. He didn't care that he would've been playing at Woodville (or Thebby) wearing an Eagles jumper, to him it was another chance to play footy. Surely each club could provide enough jumpers for "their" team.

Only good thing if its canned is that I'll never have to see my son in a Panthers guernsey!

I'm sending an email to the people in thier ivory towers who probably haven't even been to a suburban ground in years, only going to AAMI stadium to entertain the corporate set.

the SANFL have lost the plot.....i remember my mini league debut centrals vs west torrens in 1987 it was a double header( spell check can u confirm what round)

what does a 10/11/12 yo kid strive for... i remember running onto footy park wow a huge ground

what do we need to sponser??????? guernsey's should be sanfl club responsibility ....

Whats going to happen at Adelaide Oval...do we get to grace the turf at Half TIme?

more I think about this the more Im annoyed...surely it cant cost that much? Even if the SANFL made a loss on the mini-league they could see it as a great way to expose 36 kids and their parents to the SANFL x 4 games per week.
