The Liquor and Gambling Commissioner has this afternoon approved Norwood's application to transfer it's pokies licence to premises on North East Road at Windsor Gardens.

At last, some good news. I was worrying this was going to take a while yet, anything up to 12 months, so this is a real bonus and a spur to the Norwood Football Club.

Thanks Squawk :)

Hopefully this is the end of it and we can get on with getting the gaming venue up and running, no appeals. We need to get back on an even playing field with other clubs.

Don't think they drink chardonnay in Winsor Gardens , Leggies. Might have to change the drinks menu.

All the best to the Legs

maybe we can buy them out, close the football operations, and get rid of the bye

In all seriousness though, good luck to Norwood, if it didn't happen sooner rather than later, things may have looked very grim.

Well spoken Ian
I also was happy NA came from the brink not so long again.
We did almagamate in the war years for what its worth.
Lets hope for a Norwood/North grand final in the near future.

Good news, they've got past what was the easy part for North, lets hope there's no appeals as that's what's really drags out.
Hopefully at the very least they'll be able to operate while there is any appeals like North did at Sefton Park and makes heaps of $$$ like we did in be able to buy 2 premises.
Good news for the SANFL, well done David Wark on your hard work.

Be nice to be able to afford said recruits hey? still The Legs could blindly rush in & open a venue in a clearly inappropriate area, make sure that any signage is hidden, charge $20 for a pasta, & position it near an existing established business that has'nt dropped a cent in turnover.

If it didn't go ahead, they would have been in real trouble money wise, if they arn't already. Norwood should make a recovery in the next couple of years.

He's saying that Sturt might be jealous if Norwood can afford recruits if their pokies establishment becomes successful because Sturt rushed in, opened a venue in an inappropriate area, have limited signage, overcharge for their food and are close to the Cremorne which hasn't lost any patronage.
I think the insinuation by the Sheik to Jimmy is that Jimmy's bitterness in regard to North might be from the fact his club has stuffed up in many regards in relation to their pokies operation and still can't afford a new dunny brush let alone a decent recruit. I think he's also insinuating that Jimmy would perhaps want to barrack for a club that is slightly better run than Sturt before having a go at North.

And just for Mal and AH who might not understand he was having a go at Sturt, not Norwood.

I thought it was quite straight forward.

I should charge for my services.
