35 Years ago today - 25th March, 1991 - the “New Eagles” took flight

It was Monday night footy at Football Park, and the Neil Balme led Eagles smashed Sturt by 74 points, announcing our Club as a new force of the SANFL competition.

Robert Pyman was the first ever goal scorer for the Club, and Scott Morphett went on to take out the Ken Farmer Medal with 95 minor round goals, as well as winning the first ever Club Champion for the Eagles.

Peter Schwarz, our inaugural Captain, missed our first month through injury, but of course was the man who famously held up the Thomas Seymour Hill Trophy for the Eagles just 2 years later.

5 SANFL League Premierships, 12 SANFL Grand Finals, 1 SANFLW Grand Final, 2 SANFL Wheelchair League Premierships, 32 total Club flags across all grades, and over 120 players drafted to the AFL - there’s much to be proud of.

Here’s a look at our first team and result…
