Worrell - AFL listed player umpire discrimination

Ravens' Worrell claims the umpires adjudicate the AFL listed players differently.

I remember thinking this several times last Sunday. They were clearly shafted and I believe the umpires have been instructed to make life 'difficult' for them.

Fire away with your thoughts?

I didn’t hear him bitching the week before when they touched up Norwood.
Even you’re better than this…

Obviously didnt complain when they played us at Elizabeth ,we were slaughtered by the umpires in that game particularly the bald headed one.

Worrell needs to have a bigger sook.

Funnily enough i watched a doco last night about the NBA ref who was found guilty of taking bets on games he was involved in. He mentioned true or not the NBA instructed him to ref the stars of the game differently......in this case instructed to not call them for fouls so their stars could shine.

Nah but I'll deal in facts

Crows have a -58 free kick differential in the SANFL (- 9 v Port - 49 vs the "pure" clubs) roughly 900 free kicks paid in matches in a clubs season (50 per game)
Port are -17 (2 x -10 free kicks games - Eagles and Sturt surprise surprise...)

All according to SANFL Now

could be true, in the sense that the AFL seconds come from a "tougher" training and playing environment, and throw their weight around a la AFL games (that's your actual French, you know). What they can get away with at AFL level, the local umps pick up at SANFL level. Voila !! (more French)

They get shafted plain and simple. Anyone who doesnt think so is kidding themselves, but hey get the violins out!

Take off your SANFL blinkers and have a look.

Stats don't lie

Is it a measure to even up the comp? Have the umps been instructed to not give the 50/50 ones to ravens? Dont know?

It is a bit odd that the Ravens have had 400 more free kicks paid against them than the nearest SANFL side over the same period.

Bigger deviation than Don Bradman to the next best bat and suggestive of something being awry

Firstly, if he wants to bring up 'unfair treatment' then lets start with some comparisons..
AFL Reserves Full time professional footballers v SANFL part time semi-professional footballers?
AFL reserves teams have more money
AFL reserves teams have better facilities
AFL reserves teams have a lot more resources
Who is being treated unfairly again?

This is almost the last straw, it's time for the AFL Reserves teams to leave the SANFL.
They are not improving the competition, they have absolutely no supporter base and thats evident when just 2,000 people attended the Norwood v Adelaide Qualifying Final last week.

Lastly, if this was in the AFL would Worrell and Hayes cop a fine for their comments?

Hopefully they are using it as a way to even up the comp and prevent a AFL side from winning the flag.
