GLENELG
Glenelg is primed to unleash exciting young forward Lachlan Hosie against the Eagles at Gliderol Stadium on Friday night.
Originally aligned to the Eagles, Hosie (19, 189cm and 75kg) came to the Bay last year and has steadily grown in form and confidence to earn a berth in the Tigers’ 23-man League squad.
‘’He attacks the contest hard, backs himself to jump high and crash the packs,’’ Glenelg football manager Paul Sandercock said.
Hosie has been joined in the squad by Riley McFarlane, who has been named in a forward pocket while Josh Woodall returns at half-back.
Former Bulldog Ben Nason, and defender Aisea Raikiwasa have also been included on the extended interchange bench.
Key forward Ziggy Vitkunas and Lachlan Earl have been sent back to the Reserves while last week’s debutant Jack Kenny will miss at least three weeks with a hamstring strain.
Glenelg captain Andrew Bradley will play his 100th IGA League match after making his debut in Round 1, 2010.

EAGLES
Woodville-West Torrens is sweating on the availability of co-captain Pat Giuffreda for Friday night’s clash against Glenelg at Gliderol Stadium.
Giuffreda is nervously waiting to learn when he will be at the birth of his child as his partner is due to be induced on Friday.
‘’It will all depend on how quickly the little one decides to come out,’’ Eagles football manager Luke Powell said.
‘’We fully support Pat wishing to be at the birth of his child as family takes priority in this situation.’’
Triple Ken Farmer Medallist and premiership wingman Scott Lewis will miss the game with hamstring issues, Wundke unlikely to play again until after the West End State match on May 29.
Defenders Aseri Raikiwasa and Nathan Batley have been called into the 23-man squad as cover for Giuffreda while star midfielder Nick O’Brien returns after missing the ANZAC Day match.
Forward Tom Whittlesea looms as the most logical replacement for Wundke, who strained his hamstring at training last week.

Glenelg - 3rd game in 12 days
WWT - 12 day break since last game
Fantastic programming by the SANFL - will take a big effort to run out the game & win tonight.

Yep, shouldn't happen, especially against a club coming off a bye.

As for the reserves sides, it was newsworthy the last time one of them had a 5 day break:

Eagles win again with 1 quarter of footy. No doubt Glenelg's poor run with match programming hurt them as they probably should have had the game in their keeping at 3/4 time and may have been able to hold on. Impressed with Gaffney, Goldy, Petrenko and Allmond tonight. Eagles skill level and decision making poor again tonight. Bays don't deserve to be 1-5 with probably only one bad game being against North.

Glenelg are better than the 1-5 they currently are.. Should have had the Eagles put away by 3 qtr time, then understandably ran out of legs.. Eagles didn't deserve to win that game, have a lot of work to do.. Forward line almost non existent without Wundke, having said that the ball movement forward was deplorable. Constant over use of the handball and poor decision making made it hard for the forwards..

Petrenko was huge again, having a massive season. Like Gaffneys pace. Redden is a worry, something has to give with him and Borholm.. Flash was good again down back, gets better with age that bloke..

Johanson was super for the Bays, decision making has let him down in the past but it was elite last night. Sawford is a player, really like him. Not all doom and gloom for the Bays, they will shock sides this year for sure

Yep Eagles were bad but did what top teams did in the past win and did things when they needed
No Wundke Eagles don't go straight to the forward lines
Flash I'm sorry he did stuff up in the back line that shocking kick to Thompson resulted in a goal to the bay's
He wasted alone so many mistakes down back Eagles handed them goals
Now the running game the Eagles league needs to watch the Eagles seconds to see how the running game works .

Bays have improved greatly but you need more than pace to win more games
Snouts Louts helped out in that one corner
But really a lot of work to be done by Godden and his coaching panel to improve the side
I like the running game when it works I don't like getting the ball out of the back line
Centre work needs improvement Eagles won so many taps but Bays worked out where the ball was going .
I liked Gaffneys game I'm pretty sure he didn't over run with a ball that was a suspect call but didn't affect the outcome

And the announce guy really left nothing to the imagination but then I guess he is employed by the Bay's
And dancing girls on the oval don't think I recall more dancing girls than footy players on an oval
Guess what ever drags the fans in

So Flash made 1 error, he is human, it happens. He also chopped off plenty of Glenelgs forward entries and created plenty of run from defence. The Gaffney running too far call was literally in front of where I was standing, the umpire was quick on the call, but I had a look as to where he was when he picked it up and it probably was fair, even though ive seen plenty of examples where the umpire has been lenient in that situation..

The Glenelg ground announcer? Of course he would carry on in favour of the Bays, its his job..

"Adelaide’s concern for its players comes from having its program undermined"

Never mind the other clubs in the comp.
