Who runs the SANFL the coaches?
More boring defensive footy, low scores, memberships dropping,,crowds falling, clubs getting poorer.
Main thing is the coaches will be happy.
I may be wrong though,
let us hope they stick to the positive rule change.
If you do nothing nothing changes.
Let's have more exciting better footy than a boring 2015 season.

Excellent, we block the corridor, you go round the boundary, we have time to get numbers back, block space = less scoring.

Looks as though some sort of common sense it set to prevail and the rule be scrapped anyway.
PAFC. Forever.

Believe the Interchange rules stands as first announced. Capped at 50 for League and Reserves. 60 for Under 18 & 16

no mention of the out of bounds rule though.....

Had a look at the trial Thebarton today.
IMHO the new kick out rule was a success.
I only counted about 6 frees paid for kick outs.
The players to me did not use the line as often as usual.
I reckon a lot lower number of boundary throw ins also.
The ball did travel down the corridor but skill errors and turnovers were common.
It was a bit gusty with kicking skills generally poor by both teams hence low goals scored.
To me a positive start.

From the three quarters I watched today the new rule for balls kicked out was a big winner, hope it stays.

Think you are right Wedgie, was good rule.

Think it has to stay, they need to do something about the standard of footy over last few years.

Several coaches are totally against it and are making strong waves to get it removed, they have not even given it a chance. Will see how strong the SANFL bosses are now!

Just hope the coaches aren't running the SAFul most though it was the AFL.

If the AFL were running soccer they would have zones to stop people parking the bus, etc

They did change the rules to try and cut out the goalless games and teams parking the bus as you say. They changed the back pass rule stopping the keeper from picking the ball up.
And they changed the off side rule to make it easier for the attacking team
They created the play off system to encourage teams that had no chance of promotion (as it was) to play out the season.

And like every other sport, the powers (no pun intended) that be will always look to counteract some game style that acts to degenerate the value and spirit of the game.

I'm just surprised the governors of Aussie Rules haven't changed the rules to counteract the ultra-boring flooding style.

Had a look at the Norwood/Glenelg trial the other night and hardly noticed any free kicks for out of bounds kicks.
IMHO lots of less boundary throws in, compared to recent days with lots of corridor footy.
Interesting the two big key forwards for both teams kicked good numbers of goals each.
Hopefully the way of the future.
The crowd enjoyed that for sure.

That's three rule changes in 25 years

The AFL would go close to averaging more than that a season

There hasn't been many major changes in the last ten years I can remember

Yes there have been some interpretation changes aka tackles from behind but actual major rule changes I can't think of many more than the ones you have written other than they have added goal line technology but that rule hasnt changed

I'm happy to be wrong but I just can't think of any

Oh just found they recently changed two rule

Kick offs can now be taken in any direction they don't have to go forward

And cards can now be handed out pre match

But they don't really affect the way the game is played

Ps just did some research according to Wikipedia there have been 21 rule changes by Fifa since 2000

The only one which has had an affect on the game was the passive off side rule

The other twenty were all administration type stuff like a coach must return to his technical area, what type of surface games could played on, club logos being allowed on corner flags etc etc
