Yes but we were the first and only team to lose to the Crows.
We lost to the winless bottom team.
We only average 9 goals per game and could only kick 4 goals for the entire game whereas the WA Full Forward kicked 5 by himself!

Since 2000 until 2010 approx. they used to find a way to win, this side has turned 180 degrees and is now expert in finding ways to lose.

Central and North fans sound like Glenelg fans now.

The most impressive thing about the win is that we got three goals behind in the last quarter and fought back instead of throwing in the towel. The new recruits all played well yesterday. Goody was obviously injured and shouldn't have played. Guessing he will be missing next week.

You were right Ian. Very happy to be proven wrong. Although not our best team in the last 20 years they are better than I gave them credit for, I apologise to the players and the coach.

Very happy with a win.

As Roy said at the pressos the week is always a lot better when we win and the difference between winning and losing is HUGE.

There is seriously something wrong with north yet again we play an opposing side into possibly good form, we got what we deserve.
Now we suck it up and go again next week

Yesterday was the most unskilled Centrals team I've seen in ages. To watch us lose due to pure stupidity was extremely annoying. Credit to the Dogs for capitalising; it looked like they really enjoyed the win.

We have gone backwards big time, and will be struggling to make our usual Elimination Final spot.

I'm trying to think who we lost from last year that is making such a big difference. We virtually lost our entire forward line but Mitchell kicked 5 yesterday, our midfield and on ballers, bar a couple of injuries, is pretty much the same as is our defence. Which leaves several possible reasons why we aren't the same team we were last year.
Is it either;
a) Our training routine and fitness levels are down. All our skills are poorer this year including handling, passing and decision making. Our intensity and stamina are also down on last year.
b) The game plan has changed and we aren't playing that signature fast and free flowing football that overran the opposition so many times last year.
c) The players aren't buying into the club and coach. Last year we were a team. Everyone was pulling on the same rope and that team spirit very nearly got us over the line reaching the GF from an elimination spot.

All of these things point to the coach unfortunately. South this year are a perfect example of what a difference the right coach can do, as much as Francou instilled that team ethics and spirit that got us to the GF last year. I know it is still early doors and I am not one to call for the coach's head on a stake but... Is McGregor the right man for the job? There were question marks over his appointment in the first place and he doesn't seem to have carried on where Josh left off.

Personally, I really think North have gone backwards this year and the way we are playing we will be lucky to make the five at all. Something might click and we start playing coherent footy again, but I hope we haven't got another Healy.

Thoughts on the game and individual players.

Despite not being a great game quality wise due to the closeness of the game it was entertaining at very least.

Lairdy had a huge WIN in the coaches box.

Collier- played as second ruckmen, despite not winning a lot of hitouts his work around the stoppages at ground level was brilliant, going forward as well is a very tough matchup

Gilbee and Habel- both were used for most of the match in the forward pocket, half forward flank, personally I think this is there go rather than trying to go through the midfield

Cameron Milne- thought he did pretty well as a key defender despite having 5 kicked on him. Don't think he had a contested mark taken against him and most of the goals scored against him came from Centrals turnovers up the field. Had a couple of silly errors at ground level but I think that can be fixed with experience. Worth a go as his definatly not a ruckmen or a key forward so this is his last chance.

Stephenson- Despite having flaming red hair I reckon he could be the best defender in the SANFL if we can get another key defender giving him the perfect match up each week.

Its been a frustrating year so far with our best football being very very very good and our worse football being disgraceful of which this can all happen in the single quarter.

But personally I think Lairdy got it pretty right with a forward line of Retzlaff, Hill, Habel, Gilbee, Cullen while the defence of Stephenson, Milne, Waldhutter, Barmby, Hoskin looks like given time it could be strong.

Hopefully we will see the likes of Dutschke, Potter, Olssen in the side soon which will add some serious grunt and strength.

I think a few Roosters would argue that Toddy Miles is the best defender in the SANFL.

Sorry was meant to post 'one of' the best defenders.

Stephenson is not there yet but I really think he has the potential.

After the game Habel was on crutches but not sure if he was carrying an injury.

I think with the new style the Dogs are playing he is the perfect option with pace to kick the ball over the top to.

Also think he is just one of those players that could be extremely dangerous as a specialist forward, im not a huge fan that every single bloke under 6ft has to play through the midfield as well.

Francou was a firm but fair disciplinarian our boys might be testing Mc Gregor out just like teenagers do.He needs to grow some balls and sort them out or go!

Ugly win and even tho the Dogs won i am still puzzled by Lairdy's player placements Collier in ruck ??? Milne at fullback ??? you would of thought that after Luke Mitchell kicked 3 GOALS he would of put Collier onto Mitchell who ended up with five goals,

Was Lairdy experimenting with his players has he realised the Dogs will not make the finals this year ??? or was just it stupid coaching ??????? also seemed to be a lot of confusion at the interchange ????

Dogs skills still very disappointing !!!

For me if the Dogs can win 4 to 6 games this year it will be a milestone.
