if only that sought of loyalty was a bit more common in state league footy, would love to see someone from norwood do the same thing when drafted to crows or power sanfl teams.

Could someone type the gist of the article please? My I-phone won't load it much.

West Coast Eagles player Ashton Hams has 'retired' from AFL, at the age of 27, not because of injury or opportunity...

He is originally a South Fremantle player from the WAFL...

With the new alignments, all West Coast Eagles player will be playing for East Perth when in the WAFL from 2014 on...

David, a passionate South Freo Bulldogs man, refuses to wear an East Perth Royals jumper so brought to end his AFL career...

He is going to play for the South Fremantle side on a full time basis next year...

Yes, to go against the example set by the board.

Centrals Josh Glenn this year still deciding whether to enter draft.

Doesnt want to move interstate has no interest playing for a local club./

Doesnt want to move interstate?? Does that kid even want it. If I had any ability (and I have none), I'd give my left nut to play at the highest level.

Ashton Hams could probably see the writing on the wall anyway. He only had a name for himself for playing for frees.
Yeah very noble of him to stay loyal to his wafl club, but he is hardly cutting an afl career short by too much.

If he doesn't want to play for the 2 teams here and the 16 teams interstate I could go out and a limb and tell the lad maybe the AFL isn't for him?
Not the sharpest tool in the shed I take it?

He was playing ammos last year so doubt he even thought about being drafted.

If it’s just ‘old man smell’, it’s probably me. (Or maybe Psyber or Adelaide Hawk)
The above may have better credentials, but after a B.O.G. and leading goal scorer for Kensington Gardens ‘D-Grade’ in 1975,
I still hanker for a spot as Norwood’s “Amazing New Full Forward” !!!

Hey! What’s wrong with a 57 year old Magarey Medalist who was only a Rugby Union/League Player and Distance Runner?
;)

Dream on everyone !!!

How is he not the sharpest tool, that's obviously what his thinking about whether the AFL is or isn't for him, whether is willing to move or not.

In fact I think that would make him one of the smarter footballers around that his not just seeing the bright lights and money his actually thinking about all aspects of playing afl football

Quite obvious I would have thought and I already explained it. Seems some others may not be the sharpest tool too.
Its not like he can play for a 19th team that is from a different dimension unless he wants to be an umpire?

Be like me saying I don't like white wine but at at how same time I'm considering buying a Semillon or Chardonnay.

Of course that's assuming what youve conveyed is 100% accurate and not skewed at all. He might well be a bright lad and you might be bending the truth. Either/or.

Closest situation would be Gary MacIntosh. Could've played AFL but chose to remain loyal to the SANFL.

Wedgie, any thoughts on whether Macca was the sharpest tool in the shed or not, or how about Michael Aish? Both dodged the bright lights of the AFL.
Only your twisted logic would deduce the idea that he's hoping to join a non-existent AFL club from the previous post which outlined his view of the options that he didn't want to move interstate and that he's not interested in the local clubs.

I can't fathom Joshy's non-desire to play at AFL level but...last year he was playing ammos. The prospect of that sudden leap would daunt some kids.
He hasn't even been selected in any state junior squads in the past. AFL probably hasn't been on his radar.
