MEDIA RELEASE
SOUTH ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB - SALARY CAP BREACH -
The matter of the alleged breach by the South Adelaide Football Club of the SANFL Salary Cap arising out of the 2005 season has, after a long investigation and consideration, been resolved.
This matter has now been concluded with acknowledgement by the South Adelaide Football Club of its breach of the League’s Salary Cap Regulations and by the SANFL imposition a fine of $50,000.00 on the Club which the South Adelaide Football Club has accepted.
A consequence of the initial investigations into the alleged breaches of the Salary Cap by the South Adelaide Football Club in late 2005, an exhaustive review of the League Salary Cap Regulations has been undertaken.
This has led to the Football Commission appointing a Salary Cap Investigation Committee comprised of persons who are independent of the League.
In addition, the Salary Cap Regulation has been considerably revised and re-drafted. It is now in almost final draft form with a view to it coming into operation on 1 November 2006.
The South Adelaide Football Club and the SANFL have entered into a confidentiality agreement on all details concerning the breach and no further comment will be made on this matter by either party.

If both the SANFL and SAFC agreed to a $50,000 fine which would normally be imposed for a first offence if a club was $50,000 over the limit anyone wish to estimate what the figure they were over the cap might actually be?
I would suspect there was considerable compromise with the fine with the debacle over if the Salary Cap Officer was a SANFL official or not.
Am I right in saying just 2 clubs have been fined for breaching the cap since its been imposed now (South and Central) or were there others?

lol, they're not over but they're willing to pay a $50,000 fine for no reason?
Either Darren Mead's in the complete dark at South Adelaide or he's telling a porky or 2.

Cupido alledgedly cost $80,000 which the Bays couldn't afford when he was looking for a better offer, a football mercinary.

Stiff shit. Aren't they gonna look stupid when they AGAIN don't make the finals. When will they learn. You don't need a team of champions to win a Premiership, you need a Champion team. Port have proven that for years.

Wedgie - I think the Eagles received a small fine for a minor breach.

not knowing how Cupido has done all year, in the 2 games against the Bays he has managed no goals and probably less then 15 touches in 240mins. I know he did kick 11 goals or something against west or sturt, but against stronger opposition????
he is probably the highest paid flop in recent years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If South were prepared to pay $50,000 without a fight that means that they knew it would have been more if there was a thorough investigation.
