Can we keep it together?

As someone who has supported South since their last premiership......... yes true !: we have come to that time of the year when all South Supporters begin to cringe. Do we dare to become anxious maybe even excited ,knowing that all too often in the dim, dark past at this time of the year our hopes and dreams have been smashed .
Do we dare to dream that the current group that represent the second oldest club in the sanfl have what it takes to take us to the next precipice- the finals. In my humble opinion , on paper last years group ability wise was superior to this years crop. On paper....
This years group seems to want to play for each other and have a greater hunger and desire.
In the last month we have seen the team defeat centrals by 10 goals at Noarlunga: without Parry narrowly lose to the eagles at woodville by 3 pts. Destroy Port and maul the double blues.
The next few weeks have traditionally seen us implode and just make up the number for the rest of the year. I beleive that the next month will define our season. This week vs North, the following week against the arch enemy at the bay. A bye and then the journey to elizabeth, followed by the eagles at home.
South supporters get out and support your club like never before. :!:

SOUTH played like this last year but collapsed last 10 games.

I think this side is better, run games out better now.
They are at last winning at Carlunga.
And they are the only side to beat CD in recent times.

At least 5th rough hope for 4th.

The snag is the next 4 rounds if they can win 2 of them .......

South usually dominate up until June, & then fall in a screaming heap.
It appears this year (unlike others), they've not tried to be March premiers, & might be looking the better for it (ie peaking at the right time of the year).
Then again, this is South we're talking about here, it's a given they'll hit the self destruct button before the finals...

Not quite. last year we were something like 9 & 2 at rd 13 and doing it easy. Until we had a few injuries to key players like Smith and Kenna and Sampson and we had the return of Clarke and Brogan for long enough to disrupt our ruck section. Then we hit a brick wall for the rest of the season.
This year we are 6 & 5 at the same stage. We have done it a lot harder and have some legitimate hopes of finals footy. But until we get over that line it is only 1 game at a time.

et nomine patrae etc

I really really really really hope that you guys can keep it together and make some big waves in the finals series.... but recent history makes me a little bit sceptical. Ideally I'd love you to destroy all the teams in the league and then come Grand Final day to give the Dogs and awesome run and make the Gf a spectacle that it should be.... but it won't happen.

South making the GF that is ..... The Dogs will def be there.

Good luck and I have every belief that you guys can knock off North this week and overcome sceptics like me

Cheers
LD

Someone mentioned to me today that North haven't beaten South at Prospect since 1999! Does anyone know if that's a fact?

Weirdly since our last win at Prospect against South we've won 3 and drawn 1 at Noarlunga and won 1 at Adelaide Oval against the Panthers.
