Following footy religiously like we all do often over a period of years you get a "feeling" about a certain ground, opposition or particular match.

For me I always feel confident at Norwood Oval and I always feel confident at Alberton. I dare say 5 out of the last ten at Alberton would be the best record any1 has there over the past 10 years if not ever. The only club I can imagine that would have won 5 out of 10 during any time frame would be Sturt in the 60's and perhaps Centrals recently(Leaping Don). Making that Alberton record even more remarkable is the fact that in only one of those years 1996-2005 did North finish higher than Port (2004).

Surely you guys having won ur last two outings at Prospect must have a bit of a feeling? Even when North are favourites against the Bays there is always somthing that smells about the game to me. Similar to the feeling I get playing South. In all my time I reckon West are the only club that don't cause upsets against us. I reckon in my lifetime our winning streaks against them would be among the highest we have.

Supporters of the other 7 SANFL clubs need not feel left out of this conversation. Your input would be well recieved by the masses of this forum none more so than Dasher. Would love to hear about some of the little wierd thoughts and feelings that go through your mind against certain teams at certain times at certain places.

I tend to think we should win because we are simply a far superior outfit. Past losses to the tigers and the bad weather do make the game a little more on the nose than it should be though.

honestly you guys have nothing to worry about.

we may put a bit of pressure for the first quarter in a bit, we would like to keep our record of being in front at the first break in tact, but after that it will be all down hill for us.

I share the bad feeling about tomorrow RM but honestly, you would have concerns if we were playing a local under 8's side.

With the Bays record at Prospect with Motlop out and Clarke in I'd be putting money on the Bays defiantely at the current odds.
A lot more riding on the game for them than us too.
Thank christ we have no major event attached to this game otherwise it'd be a Bays win for sure!

CLARKE, BAYS SET SIGHTS HIGH

Matthew Clarke is 33 in September and probably the oldest debutant Glenelg is likely to have. He might also be the most important against North Adelaide at Prospect tomorrow.

The Adelaide big man is a genius tap ruckman with the capability of giving the Tigers' on-ballers the biggest lift since the Apollo lunar missions.

Glenelg relies on run out of the midfield and Clarke - who transferred from South Adelaide to Brighton Rd in the off-season - has the experience to give Brett O'Hara and Daniel Wakelin a bath . . . but that won't happen if Clarke just wants to ease into action.

The inclusion of Clarke and reliable defender Marcus Burdett in an extended squad were the only changes for the Tigers who crumbled late against Central District last week. Glenelg is developing a similar attacking style to North but it is dangerous only when the key forwards fire. Clarke might help there, too.

North is more lethal because of its greater depth in attack, even without Daniel Motlop, taken by the Power.

Enter Ken Farmer Medallist Daniel Hargraves and the balance returns with the critical element of familiarity. He has been the backbone scorer for five seasons and he is infinitely more predictable than Motlop.

North is clearly favourite but Glenelg must win to regain a spot in the five and to keep Norwood and South off its tail.

Only one will play in September so this is critical to Glenelg, which lost its past two games because it didn't go the distance.

Here's a prime opportunity for Glenelg to prove its worth. North, however, has nothing to prove and should win.

Clarke does nothing at SANFL level. Great tap ruckman in the AFL but in our league you expect more from your premier big men. I'd have Parry before Clarke anyday due to his around the ground work....

I rate Clarke, best tap ruckman Ive seen since Mick Redden, I also remember him tearing us a new one at Noarlunga Oval in the last couple of years when he took marks and got kicks and handpasses everywhere on the ground.

I estimated there was about 3000 Bays fans at the last North v Glenelg game, be interesting to see how many of them attend tomorrow?

WE should win, but North supporters have said that before every Glenelg game in recent years. Glenelg know they have a slight mental edge over us and usually bolt out of the blocks, if we can get off to a good start we will win. Should be a good game, and the Bays will be looking to bounce back after their flogging last week.


Clarke is the best tap ruckman for a long time, the best ive seen, i did see Redden but i was too young to really appreciate it back then. He will no doubt give the Bays first use of the footy, hopefully our boys in the guts keep it tight and shark the opposition's tap. He is a huge in for Glenelg.

i would think at full strength we could win but we're not at full strength so its very doubtful a win is in store, the bottom line is we have no depth north can & does cover 5 or 6 outs but we cant cover those outs its been proved over the last few weeks & that is why we are a 5th - 7th team & not a bit higher no depth as i think if we had no injuries all year we'd be a top 4 team, mind you the rain will suit us more than north if it does rain

A decent tap ruckman can set up 15 goals where a bloke drifting down forward or back rarely stops/creates 5.

Check out the 3rd quarter between North v Sturt last week if you want any confirmation of either theory (or play the game and play on the ball). And no, there were no dinosaurs roaming around last Friday night, I think it was too cold for them.

Yeah a ruckman gets a good tap to a rover, he bangs it forward, mark goal. I think they are very important.

I hate to say this but look at Lade in the Power, hes winning a lot of clear taps this season which puts his midfielders into space.

Our third quarter resrugence last week started by winning good taps and it allowed us to kick quick goals..
