I have often thought if getting a group of people together to tackle this project is a good idea???

Not just for this season but past seasons back to 1991 when the ABC started broadcasting has this gone un-noticed. I think it would be a wonderful project for every SANFL Footy Fan.

With Pine Lodge now covering all other games, would they perhaps be interested in doing something like this and in turn getting the rights to use highlights - like the TV News do - to put in the package.

This is something that should also be looked at putting on TV. C31 could have a look at a highlights package from all 4 games on the weekend and place it on one of the shows if they get the rights.

But overall, I am just interested in what all of you think and would it be viable? Would you buy a copy??

Brilliant idea! Was watching the bombers v kangaroos greatest game dvd the other day with a mate and its amazing how much the game and the faces have changed in 5 short years. it would also be a great revenue raiser for the league to get behind such a project.

Well I'm with the Chief. If anyone is willing to take my idea on board and has the money to do so..... then please get in touch!!! With Videos Direct 2U closed now, there is nothing like this any more unless someone stands up and says.....yeah yeah me me!!

Doesn't matter if the league did or not...someone else always can. I am sure the SANFL will be pleased to see a project like this go out on the shelves like it was some 16 years ago.

Let's pull our heads together (carefully) and make this work!!!

Maybe "FABULOUS' Phil and the boys down at C31 can help kick it off or give some contacts of people who can help out

I'm no legal eagle, but I imagine the SANFL could put a stop to something like this quick smart if they wanted to.

Likewise the ABC for that matter.

For starters, there would be copyright issues and the production costs would be substantial.

You're looking at a lot of time in the editing suite for something like this.

Then there's the voice-over artist, writer/director/producer, maybe some interviews and whatever costs they bring...

Totally agree with you Magpiespower.

Although they wouldn't have to pay a voice talent - I'd do that for nix.

We already have the rights to show the Pine Lodge games/highlights on the show each week, as we have been doing for a few weeks, so it is something we could consider doing on a wider level during the season. Not sure if we would need to hear the commentary of the non-radio games though, as Damian and myself have called some of these non-broadcast games for the DVD and I think the fans of the shows already hear enough of my dulcet tones three times a week

Put together a DVD of the non-ABC covered games. Im sure it wouldn't be too hard or expensive to get permission to use one or two ABC highlights for something special, such as Inksters mark or the PA v CD biff.

I would be keen if cost were reasonable and profits went to clubs.

They certainly are great to look back on, I still throw the old 1982 & 84 the way it was video's in and they are fantastic until we get to the finals but the doggies are fixing that now.

So definitely a season highlights DVD with voice over etc would be worth a try if you can get some highlights from the ABC game as well, then perfecto.
I would most definately buy something like this. The real bad thing is I currently don't pick up 31 at home with my bad aerial. Hopefully soon!

Perhaps a suggestion could be made to the bloke who runs Pine Lodge? He stands to make a bucketload of clams out of this.
