The 19 year old played an outstanding game in defence against West on the weekend in what was only his sixth League outing.

He notched up sound statistics (13 kicks, two marks and five handballs) during the match.

O’Grady’s ability to read the game, along with his run from defence and use of the ball, were highlights of his performance.

ABOUT THE COCA-COLA STAR SEARCH AWARD

The Coca-Cola Star Search Award recognises the talented youngsters making their mark in League ranks.

To be eligible for the award, nominees are required to meet the following criteria:

players must have played no more than eight State League games at the start of the 2009 season
players must be aged 21 or under at January 1, 2009
AFL rookies are eligible for the award unless promoted to the senior list of their AFL club
Players who are suspended by the tribunal during the 2009 season are ineligible to win the award
Following each round of the home and away season, each competing club nominates one eligible player from their team.
A review panel then selects one player as the Coca-Cola Star Search Award nominee.

The review panel consists of:

Darren Chandler (General Manager – State League Competition)
David Hutton (General Manager – Game Development)
Daniel Thomas (SANFL Football Services Manager)
Brenton Phillips (SANFL Talent Manager)

On the completion of the minor round, one of the 23 nominees will be chosen by the review panel as the 2008 Coca-Cola Star Search Award winner. The award carries a winner’s purse of $2000.

So his performance was so "outstanding" that he's been dropped?

IMO Grades was good last week but he was better agaisnt Norwood and Port. Should have got his nomiantion after those games IMO.

Unfortuantely 22 into 21 don't go, Hall was arguably BOG against Norwood until he came off just before half time so after 40+ touches last week he had to be included. Another person is unlucky to not get picked as well, over 70 touchs in the last two games.

Its a good for position for the cub to be in at the minute - there are a number of players in the 2s putting real pressure on the blokes in the 1s. Glad I am not a selector.
