What is the view of you guys on having triple headers every week so the u/18s can play first and then watch the twos then league.I for one would love to see it.early start for the kids i know but surely benifical for them to play in front of a decent crowd and get to watch the seniors afterwards.Just my thoughts.

The triple header concept is a good one i think but not when it means the under 18's or Reserves are playing at 8.30 in the morning. Early in the season and towards the end it may not be so bad but as much as the kids love to play it would be hard to be excited about an 8.30 start on possibly a cold wet morning at Noarlunga, (or Woodville, Unley, Glenelg ..anywhere), wouldn't be easy for country kids either if they (and their families) have to either leave home early morning or come to town the night before and then have issues of finding places to stay etc and the costs that go along with that. The league seems to be keen on promoting the under 18's this year, dont see how playing at 8.30am does anything for the game, players, families or support staff of the clubs.

Its a bit like the reserves playing at 4.55 on a Friday arvo, recently heard a story of a young player who had just accepted a new work placement and in his second week had to ask a not very understanding boss if he could leave work early as he had footy, its tough for the kid involved but you can also see the boss' point of view, he has a business to run and in the current climate time more than ever is money.
Trust the process.

I know what your saying, but if it's at Noarlunga, then have the reserves first and have the u18s 2nd before the league. This Sunday I have to ask for a ride down to Noarlunga as the buses don't run early enough in the morning and I'm not getting a taxi as it would cost a packet to get there.

Thats what they did last week the chap I work with had to play in the 2's at the earlier start.
For me the four games on one day was over the top .By the end of the league game after watching 3 and 1/2 games I'd had enough of footy .

Its ok later on in the yeaer West has two triple headers where the reserves start at 8.30am followed by the 18s and then the league. Its going to to be a long day for match day officals which will be at the ground from 6.30am

Whilst still a long day for support staff, they're probably a best fit with Saturday night League matches, where the first game can commence around normal ressies start time.

Think this almost deserves a thread on its' own. I don't like this 8.30 start for reserves - surely it hs been hard enough to keep reserves players at League clubs rather than going to country clubs without having to make them play this early on a winters morning.

I do think this could be a winner though. Even if the crowd don't stay around, hopefully some of the league players will, which will help the juniors' attitudes and hopefully commitment to the club.

After Saturdays disappointing loss to Norwood- a game that was there for the taking, I hate to say it but I feel a tad of optimism about this game. :?

Back on the topic

There is no reason that South should loose to the Eags on Sunday, the reality is that the Eags will be to strong for our young South team, with last sat showing, South will be a more competitive unit, if the Eagles make the trek to Pantherland thinking that the two points are there for the taking, then they might just go home empty handed.

South have had a few games where they got a belting this year, but they are now getting things together where they will not give in without a Growl, loosing games is starting to make a bigger hurt within the playing group, and they are really ready to make inroads to anyone that comes to Noarlunga and thinks that its money for jam, and dont think that it is only home games, when we go on the road we will be hunting as well, so all of you out there beware of the wounded Panther.

We will not win every contest we participate in this year, but there will be some scalps coming our way, as these young blokes start stringing some games together, they will get a lot better.

As for the U/18 and Reserves playing the ice breakers, it would be more practical to play the U/18 after the League game at say a 4.45pm start, each of the clubs could give them the promotion they deserve, the fans will stay and support them, if the matches are of high standard, more and more people will stay and watch the end results.

On the down side of things, I'm not to sure how the clubs would fare financially, loosing bar trade and pesentations to players as is the normal practice for most clubs after the League finishes, I suppose this is one delimina {problem} the clubs never thought thru properly when they voted it in.
I wish my remembering was as good as my forgetting
