Has the Under 18s points changed this year? According to the Budget, like the Reserves, 50 points are worth a win. Unless if it's another balls up to go with the AFL style percentage; Nathan Lonie poster and some of the facts by numbers being wrong?

As the U16's don't play a full season (as we know it), yes. League 100, Reserves & U18s are 50 each.

Yes it has changed as the u16s isn't a full year like the u17/19s system was where both played the same amount of games as the league and Reserves. Don't know why the 18s are the same points as the Reserves. It used to be 20 - 17s, 30 - 19s 50 - Reserves and 100 - League

Is it more evidence that the SANFL is being seen as important only for its U18 players by the powers that be?
What's next banning U18 from reserves to make it easier for talent scouts from the AFL?

The U/18's comp is not a true 18's comp as it is allowed to play up to 6 U/19's players. These are players that the club sees is a chance to play resereves football or needs to develop that extra year for a chance to play league.

Which is a reason I was against the change in the first place.

Academic interest only. It would have carried far more interest years ago, but with players now going up and down from AFL to SANFL, and with younger players getting scooped up by AFL club, it really isn't an indication of club strength any more.

Yeah pretty much nail, hammer, head.
I still, however, like the concept of the system, as it gives more meaning to the results of reserves and under 18s, rather than those matches - particularly under 18s - being mostly about the individual performances rather than the team.

I care about it too!
Am seriously depressed this week about our slipping chances of bagging the 2009 SHL

I reckon there's a cheque to the winning Club for about $10,000 as well, IIRC - from our SHL pickups in 2002 and 2003.
I'm sure we got a cheque presented on the field before one of the GFs, might have been 2003.

Does that mean the premiership table in each grade is not an indication of a club's strength in each particular grade?

It helps if the league team is winning/top (or close) of the ladder.

Yes it does. Think about it.

So premierships don't mean anything?

Yes they still mean something, but not in the context of the SH Lewis Trophy, as the points are only for H&A games because not all teams make the finals.
