Would think that is selling West a little short at this stage....

Very much agree CK...
And while I don't think it will happen this weekend, if the Bloods were to get over the Roosters, they would have to be seriosuly considered for making the 5 ???

Absolutely. West still very much in the hunt.
South and Port gone, Norwood almost certainly gone. Therefore only one of the other 6 will miss out. North and Eagles at risk of yielding to West. I wouldn't even say Sturt and Glenelg are deffo finalists yet, though it would take some seriously bad form for either to slip.

I know it is still along time away i dont think we will make it
although we could win the next three games
This is what think
North 50/5o
We play the bays after glenelg with oinly a 5 day break we have to be a chance
then a bye
then Norwood at Norwood which i think we will win

If they dont and the Eagles also win, West will be a game and a half away from 5th with North also having a game in hand.
This week has a great deal of interest for mine. Eagles beat Norwood, and Norwood have absolutely no hope (not that they really do anyway) of making the finals this season - and Trevor Hill may as well find a new hobby.
North beat West and I reckon its all over for West.
Time will tell I suppose and I stand to be corrected by you fellas with much more experience at this than I !!!

Any particular spot you'd prefer gets hit?
There is the West factor....
Port have also lost nearly every game, but there haven't been any blow outs that I am aware of. Perhaps if they had been a little luckier they could have been in the hunt around about now? Perhaps there is still hope for even them?
It's a bit like in the horror movies where the zombies get cut up in tiny little peices, but when you least expect if a dismembered hands sneaks up on your throat and strangles you to death.
Dig?

I keep saying this, a top 5 is ridiculous in a 9 team competition.
Yes, the top 5 is set, only the positions within that 5 may alter.

Can West make the 5?, I doubt it, Is the 5 set?, Norwood could still be the X factor as a side with that talent can start winning games, last year after what the Bays did that Friday night number on them started to find form and stormed home and finshed fourth.
Ports & Souths are gone. West have to win 6-7 out of their last 12 games and I think they might just struggle. Hope Im wrong

Agree Dash, wouldn't be writing Norwood off just yet, but it will be very difficult if they don't win this weekend.

As a West supporter, how good is it that people are even considering the words West and finals in the same sentance. on the past 4 years that would never have been thought of. I dont think we will make it this year but I think we will next.

IMHO the 5 is set, with the Bloods the only chance to upset the applecart.

Whilst in principle I agree with you both (why reward "mediocrity") having a final five keeps interest in the season for teams to make the finals. With a final four the five would be set well before the end of the minor round.
So for mine a final is OK.
I'm not yet prepared to make the call that "the final five is set" but I will be surprised if it changes.

In the TAC u18s comp in Victoria they have a top 8 in a 13 team comp I believe.
We had a top 4 for a season and who finished 5th - Port so it was changed back.

So why are we wasting everyone's time then with the rest of the home and away season, lets start the finals now.
