Psuedo to thread...Psuedo to thread.
Psuedo posted a fantastic post over on Snouts which I'd love for him to replicate over here (or I will if he agrees), which sums
up the induction of Peter Carey better then I could ever say.
Well done Super. A big man on field and a bigger man off. A true football legend.

Congrats Super, a true champion of the game and like others such a the Jumbo Prince should have been inducted a lot earlier!
I remember giving Super a mouthful as our cars were next to each other caught in a traffic jam before the 87 Grand Final and he just smiled at the silly teenager as though to say 'You Dill!'.
Some great coverage in today's paper although I'm not sure Bays fans will want to relive his 2 game suspension for attempting to strike in 84.

Good stuff, have great memories of Super in the 80s and chatting to him at his sports store - still have the scarf! Absolute champion, well done!

Can we take the HOF seriously now?
Super is a legend!! I had him on the back of my 1st Duffle coat & saw him play many many great games.
And a he is a top bloke too.

The big fella's certainly an icon of footy in this state and it's great that he's now been recognised nationally ... Remember his courage in the 82' Finals series, his dreams cruely shattered in 84 and then finally his well deserved triumph.
Would loved to have been around to see him play in the 70's

I suppose it took some time because he didn't play in the Victorian Basketball League. HOF is a bullshit American concept, we can do without it. Anyway Congrats to him!

A great player but what's he doing in an AFL Hall of Fame? This is another example of the AFL's brand being used as a synonym for "Australian Rules". The AFL is a competition that Carey never played in. Call it an Australian Rules Hall of Fame (of which he should undoubtedly be a member) and give competitions like the WAFL and SANFL the respect they deserve, not turn them into some sub-category of the AFL brand.

Congrats to Super.
He has been inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
(There is no AFL - australian football laeague - hall of fame nor an SANFL hall of fame - there is our own South Aust football hall of fame)

Oops, I withdraw that rant. But I'll find some other issue to apply that argument to.

You rang, m'lord?

His status as a legend is absolute, and completely independent of the opinions of those victorians who decide who does or does not make it into their boys' club Hall Of Fame.
Inclusion of the Great Man in the hall of fame does more to validate the hall of fame itself than it does to cement Super's status as legend, for any hall of fame without Peter Carey could only be viewed as a ludicrous joke. That it took this long for the victorians to recognise the man, while other lesser victorian players got the nod, is an indictment on the hall of fame concept.
So, while I'm glad to see Super get the recognition which he has always deserved - sincere congratulations to thee big fella - my excitement at this announcement will extend no further than those good wishes. The AFL hall of fame still has no credence and not even opening the doors to Peter Carey will change that.
