Your Number 1 Pick

Postby whufc » Tue May 19, 2009 7:54 pm

Bored at work so thought i would start a topic.

Its fantasy land and every current SANFL player has gone into an SANFL draft. You have pick number 1 who do you choose?

For me Ian Callinan, one of the very few players in the SANFL who can pick up 25+ possesions and kick 5 goals. Can do what very few can do, is ultra skilled, tough and rarely plays a bad game.

I think naturally you lean towards a player from the club you support personally...

For an interesting spin on things, perhaps list the player from your own club and one from outside your team you would have...

SUPPORTED CLUB: Paul Thomas - Never gives less than 110%, generally uses the ball well and just runs all day.

OPPOSITION CLUB: Tristian Gum - Perhaps a tad underestimated, but one of the most talented and skilled blokes in the league.

I don't know or care enough about the teams I don't support, so I'd go with Damon White.

Paul Thomas as he very rarely has a bad game.

supported team R Archard, he is going to be a very very good SANFL player for a long time

opposition team J Clayton, when playing his best no SANFL player is near his class, should have played alot more games for the ROOS

That's either just laziness or ignorance Mic ;)

Surely when your side plays their is an opposition out there and that opposing side has a player who you think, Gee, I wouldn't mind him in my side ?? ;)

He might see an opposition player once or twice a year only and think that perhaps that wouldn't be enough to assess if he'd be interested in recruiting them or not. A lot of people might not know 90% of the players running around for the other side only seeing them that rarely. ;) ;) ;)

My Club: Mark McKenzie - See him every game so maybe im biased but think he has to be one of the top 5 players going around at the moment, cool and calm under pressue (not unlike Andrew Rogers in his day) and can play in the middle, down back and up forward.

Opposition Club: James Allan - Seems to always play well against the Eagles
Trust the process.

Hey, I'm gonna report you to a moderator for that comment Wedgie ;)

Yeah, you are right I guess. But surely the "common" supporter sees, hears, reads (on here) enough about the better players to at least have an opinion of who they would want playing in their side from an opposition club :D

Anyway, back in my box I guess, sorry Wedge Man

Yeah, I went from him to Trevor Cranston to Brant Chambers to Michael Coad to Jimmy Allan but decided on Gum from Sturt...

To me, while Clayton is no doubt a star, I just think he is too selfish at times and undiscipline so decided on the all round talent of Gum...

Undisciplined maybe but selfish? .... you are on a different planet

and to be honest I am staggered by your Michael Coad reference.
