Tonight's game was a very entertaining and enthralling match. Whilst a little scrappy at times, when Centrals turned it on they really turned it on. Matty Westhoff was fantastic with his 5 goals. Jonathon Griffin showed why he should be in the Crows, especially in the second quarter.

Port, and particularly Jeremy Clayton, resorted to their undisciplined thuggery brand of football, with Clayton very lucky he wasn't reported for this attack on Jenner in the second quarter.

The umpiring was a disgrace, and Richard Williams and co were deservedly given a serve as they left the field. I think the time has come for the SANFL to dismiss Williams - his umpiring is constantly substandard.

Griffin looks a million bucks at this level but folds like a pack of cards in the AFL. Shouldn't play next week, if too often after that.

Sounded like a good game though, should've gone instead of watching the Crows.

Were the twins fighting each other at half time going down the race ?
My mail is it flowed on into the change rooms during the break.

A agree on maost parts of you post Brucetiki...

Port were undiscipline but it was at crucial times that cost them the most and Jeremy Clayton is very lucky not to be reported. Kyle Jenner had clearly taken the mark and Clayton saw the opportunity to take out his former team mate in a sniper like fashion which not only proved to be a turning point in the game but made Clayton look a fool.

Speaking of fools, did anyone see the Port supporter get right up in the face of both Gowans twins as they were leaving the ground ? The twins were last to leave the arena as they had just finished posing for a couple of photos with some young supporters and this moron got within a metre of the boys making threatening gestures and verbally abusing the twins.

Thankfully Chris and James pointed the peanut out to security close by and within 30 seconds police were there to escort the idiot out of the ground. Boy did he cop some flack from the Bulldogs supporters. Other than that, I thought there was a good crowd in attendance with both clubs supporters in full voice tonight making it a good atmosphere.

As for the umpring, I actually though Richard Williams was fine tonight, as was Toby Medlin. It was Gary Fila who was the frustrating official. Paid too many soft 25's and let some very obvious free kicks go and paid some very ticky touch wood decisions against the Dogs.

Will post scorers and better players shortly with a brief match review...

There was a fairly big all in "push and shove" as both sides left the ground at half time to come down the race...

G, every bloody week the Gowans are fighting with each other and verbally beat the living crap out of each other constantly, with it on the odd occassion turning into a little shove here or a push there on one another.

You should know what they are like by now, they have been in the SANFL for 10 years and have always played like this

Griffin looks good at this level because he is aloud to play his own game and not that Crows crap style.I also hope the Crows dont take him as it usually takes the dogs a couple of games to get him playing well again. As for Clayton there is no denying he flies the flag for his team if they had 3-4 like him they might be able to make something of there season.

Not the first time there's been crowd trouble involving Port supporters and opposition players this year. Bit of a concern for the SANFL one would think.

im the first to admit we have some feral supporters, but mate, you have got to be kidding yourself if you rekon all yours are royalty!!! im passionate about my footy but cant stand fights, abuse and idiots by any one, and let me tell you, ive seen plenty from every club, including mine and yours.
I do think its coming to a time where you cant take your children anymore. Which is a shame, as i would love my daughter to grow up watching footy every week like i did. But i guess times are changing.
I expected port to be flogged tonite, so im quite happy with the result!

I wasn't saying Centrals supporters are angels. However, this is the second time in 5 weeks there's been issues with Port supporters confronting opposition players on field (there was the incident with Cain Ackland in round 3), which is a concern.

agreed. The players should be protected. The SANFL should look into this and find a solution before someone is hurt. No arguments from me there.

Not one to normally complain about umpiring, but tonight it was shite. I look forward to seeing the For/ Against numbers tomorrow

Can't believe you couldnt fit Thommo into our best Phil? I left the ground thinking he was our standout. Mind you that is without considering stats or who his direct opponent was..
Anyway - Port to be commended for their performance. Pushed us all the way and I thought that was as good a 4 qtr effort we have produced all year. IF they can continue that type of intensity and work rate for the rest of the year - the season may not yet be over for them yet.
All in all a good advert for SANFL footy..

An excellent game, I dont normally like Williams, and thought he did make a couple of dubious calls, but otherwise umpiring was ok...I too thought Thommo was excellent..

For those that didn’t see the incident after the game....all players had left the field except for the Gowans ,who as usual were still out there talking to the kids and having photos taken ( don’t you just luv em ).
As they approached the players race a middle aged “ gentleman “ in a Port shirt started to mouth off at them as they turned around he gestured towards his chin obviously to entice them to hit him. He carried this on and fortunately the twins didn’t bite but left the security to deal with him. They escorted him out followed by , I have to say , some equally ferral central supporters.
