Good luck to both teams.

What I don't get is they can have this game before an AFL game, while having the u18s Eagles v Sturt game after an AFL game.

Ask the North, Norwood, West, South and eagles footy clubs why we are.

I hope our boys do well but gee their development would better be served playing 15s or a full year of 17s.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I wonder how long it takes for the League to wake up & realise the 16s & 18s is a joke compared to 17s & 19s, the sooner it gets back to the old format the better.
North- Norwood- West -South & Eagles wake up to yourselves.

WTF???

And what happens now kids go back to their clubs instead of training and playing with an elite group of their peers. Do we sacrifice elite under 18 kids now to 16s in our club system like we've had to sacrifice some of our reserves.

it doesn't take a Rhodes scholar to deduce that elite young footballer will develop optimally in a squad of similar ability over a whole season rather than in a short week 10 week epoch then back to their clubs where they then train and play with scrubbers (like me when i was that age).

As NM says sooner we go abck to the old system the better. The impact on some of young developing kids has been worse than I expected.

Yes R&B we've gone over this again and again so I won't go on about it anymore.

I agree TAS, the idea of a team disbanding after 8 games is just plain ridiculous. How the SANFL or any team that voted in favour of this ridiculous concept , thinks it's good for the kids is beyond me.

If they wanted a U16 comp, at least make it play each team twice home/away then finals to guarantee all teams at least 16 games. Make it worthwhile not some lightning carnival crap...

Agreed its rediculous, the U16s pre season almost went for twice as long as the actual season went for...
From a Port Adelaide point of view the U16s were starting to play some good footy and enjoy playing together, and BANG its over...
Some of the better players will train with the U18s a bit, but no doubt for the rest of them going back to SAAFL clubs will not help there improvement.

WHilst we are talking about this i find it very strange that we have an U18 competition where you can play 6 U19 players....
