Looking forward to this game as I always love going to the Bay, hopefully North get some players back from injuries.

Im surprised this thread is so slow for a wednesday, with the amount of bays and rooster fans we have on this site.

Busy sorting out the fire lighting and fire fighting tools I suspect. ;)

to be a realistic chance of winning we would have to improve 300% on our performances of the last 3 weeks, i've seen north once & they look a sharp, skillful unit who play a more defensive & accountable style (central type style) of football than they did under jars'.....hopefully glenelg win but they wont be getting my money this week

For us to win this game we will have to play 4 quarters of consistent football for starters. Our final line-up will also dictate whether we have a chance. Injuries etc have unsettled us all year however those players who have had the opportunity because of injuries have stood up pretty well. Last week we were lacking one tall with Schwarze out and in hindsight Schubert should have been an in.

This week (hopefully) Gill will be a big in for us and Schwarze is a chance too. A fwd line with Gill, Scwarze and Alleway and the option of Stewart as well, may stretch the Bay defenders but if we don't get enough of the ball in the midfield then it won't matter who plays up fwd if the ball doesn't get down there!

I think the Bays rightly start as favourites given it is their home game and North struggle on the close confines of the smaller ovals from time to time. Hopefully it will be a competitive encounter and a win to North to put us 4-2 before our second bye (and two weeks off with the state game) is a must.

Whoever did the draw this year and gave North 2 byes in the first 8 rounds needs to be shot - it is a disgrace!

3 before Round 9 if you include the state game! A third of the season off!

I suppose a good thing is we're unbeaten on smaller grounds (Unley and Norwood) and have an ordinary record at Prospect.
Perhaps we're doing like a couple of years ago and becoming Road Warriors again?! :D

Good point Wedgie - 3 weeks of in the first 9 rounds. Who was the anti - North moron that scheduled the draw?

We are also traditionally "poor" after a bye (much like we are on Sunday and Monday P/H games!) so after losing in Round 2 (albeit to the Dogs) after a first round bye what are we going to serve up in the next game after having 2 weeks off?

Yeah, 3 weeks offf even befor the 9th round starts is extraordinary but with the way our injuries have been mounting its possibly not that bad a thing though, all depends on how we go with injuries later in the year I suppose.
Our draw at Prospect is weird with big gaps too, not to mention asking for a twilight game there and getting a bye instead.
Still North unlike most other clubs do insist on making their feelings about the SANFL on various matters public, they probably have to expect some payback.

Same goes for us there too Drebin.

I think if we play four quarters of consistant footy we'll win, but we haven't done that this year.

Agree that our midfield holds the key with Allan, Murphy and Backwell getting games under their belts after coming back from injury I think we are starting to re-gain some form. Whether that improvement is enough to get two points this Saturday as North are a quality side.

Should be a great game and I'm looking forward to it as I think both teams can get a lot out of this game as despite recent form I believe both teams will be there in September when the whips are cracking.

Not really mate, the Eagles only had to play one quarter and Sturt almost got the job done with two.
If you put more than 2 quarters together you'll get the win. Possibly less.

Hmm have we swapped our Allan for your Allen? LOL

Seriously though the midfield will be the key (isn't it always!) and I would a lot happier if Archard was available for us!

Big game and looks like i will miss it, time for the Roosters to play a full game instead of 3/4's, make no mistake, the Bays are alot better than they have shown this year so far, think this may be a beauty, cant pick a winner at this stage

From the SANFL Website, here are the 2 sides...

GLENELG:

HF R.KIRKBY J.SELLAR C.HALL
C M.RUWOLDT A.FISHER B.KANE
HB B.MULES M.LIEBELT L.PANOZZO
B D.MEYER W.MILLS J.HINGE

RUCK: T.CRANSTON B.MURPHY T.ALLEN

INT: (from) C.KANER.O'GRADY D.KIRK M.DULDIG L.BLOCK

IN: L.BLOCK, D KIRK, R O'GRADY
OUT: J. CARR (Inj)

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

NORTH:

F Millar Stewart Younie
HF Thiele Alleway Gill
C Stribling Allan Ryswyk
HB Davis White T.Armstrong
B Cunningham McIntyre M.Motlop

RUCK: Ackland Wright Sloane

INT: Pfeiffer Clarke W.Thompson

IN: Gill – Returning from injury
OUT: K.Thompson – omitted

There are 2 pretty good sides listed there. As has been the case in recent years, these 2 arch rivals will put on a good contest I reckon. Will look forward to watching the ABC replay of this game. Think the Bays might just sneak over the line by under 3 goals.
