If Port don't beat Sturt at Alberton this week I would terminate Tim Ginever and appoint (wait for it) ......
Geoff Morris, former West Adelaide (premiership player & All Australian), Port Power (assistant/developmet coach), Hawthorn (assistant/developmet coach) & Wanderers (NT) who is currently back in Adelaide between jobs, as caretaker coach for the rest of 2009.

From a NON Port Adelaide Person, would that show that Port Adelaide were a non professional club replacing their coach mid way through a season ?
I think the end of the year is the time to do such things .

If Ginever was to resign, or, for example, the Magpies got beaten by 30 goals this week, i think Mark Tylor would be appointed the new coach.

Between jobs? He's still employed by the Hawthorn Football Club.

Im not even remotley convinced that another coach could do any more with the list at Port which some observers might suggest is thin at best.
Mark Tylor was sacked by Port so whether they would rush back to him who knows!
Personally I think Port would be better to stick with Ginever and work on getting some good cattle into the list. If Ginever was to resign, I would suggest Roger Delaney who I am led to believe has won the premiership with the side that he coached in the SAAFL might be one to look at for the club.

The last time I was in Tylors company
Was in a cricket match
Tylor bounced me, I swayed back and smassssssssssssssssssssshed him over point for 4
Next ball he bounced me again and swayed out the way
Anyone with that sort of courage to bounce me twice in a row would make a good coach

Hope Tim stays for 2009 but what about Darren Mead?

Tim won't resign ... he's not that kind of bloke.
And Port won't sack him ... they can't afford to pay him out and then pay someone else.

Is that all part of the "Creed"?
No wonder they are going (gone) downhill!

Unfortunately for Port Adelaide, this decade has removed any hint of invincibility that they once had. What Port had, now Centrals have and the rest of the league has to deal with them now. Port have become, I think, just one of many mid-order teams. Its hard to put it into words without offending people, but what I'm trying to say is at one point Port was special, like Centrals are now, now Port are just like, say, North.
They've lost that mental advantage. Everyone has beaten them so often the last 10 years, no one is surprised anymore and Port hasn't got that rough and tough, never say die attitude anymore. To be honest, its disappointing its not there. I would have loved to see a vintage Port from say 1995 be around now, playing off against the Dogs, it would be a riveting contest with some really hard yards earned.
As for the coach, I think Port should sack Tim if they lose (and I like Tim). Port need a tough character to take over, like a Phil Carman, someone to get that menace back.

To many players that are happy to get a game of football.
Bring in the Gowans boys as coach and shake the shit out of the boys.

I'm hoping they can become more like South.

I was going to suggest Fabulous Phil, but would they accept him there?
