Battle of the birds, Roosters or the Eagles. Match of the day IMO

I think North have won the last 5 matches in a row against the Eagles (and the one before that was something like a 3 point loss) so we're probably due for a loss.
Funny as at the beginning of the year I pencilled this in as a win but was none too sure about the Norwood and Sturt games.
North and Eagles are the in form teams behind the Dogs at the moment (and a long way behind at that) so should be a good game.
Not sure about the Eagles injuries but it wouldn't surprise me if North's long injury list catches up with us especially if we lose another key player as expected this week.
Pity its a bloody Sunday game when there's no AFL game in Adeliade on Saturday afternoon and the game that night is a Port home game, what a completely stupid exercise.

As mentioned in my post I understood it was a Saturday night game, not a Saturday afternoon game.
Im not sure what Geelong has to do with it but I apologise wholeheartedly for being mistaken that the Port v Adelaide game was on Saturday night and not Saturday afternoon, thanks for correcting me.
If the Port v Adelaide game is on Saturday afternoon as you've pointed out then I fully understand why they'd move it to Sunday.
If it was night like I suspected it would be a completely stupid exercise as I mentioned but I was obviously wrong sor fair enough.

I am worried about this game .eagles need to play four quarters this week.North are not an out of form side like we have played against in other weeks . I dont expect North forwards to miss goals from 10-15 metres out like other side have done against us.

From Ron's email to members
---------------------------------------------------------------------
On Sunday we will go to Prospect with the knowledge that we haven’t been able to get past them in the last 5 times we have tried, including two finals in 2007. Although we finished higher than them last year we were unable to beat them in 3 attempts and this had a large bearing on us not playing in finals for the first time in a decade.

North promise to be tough competition again this season judging by their form and it should be a good indication of where we are at from our own Club’s perspective.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope we eagles fans all get there this week to cheer our side on.

Further more to wedgie's post North Have also won the past 5 games at Prospect but trail 9-10 at the venue. Overall The Eagles do hold the ascendancy with a 36 - 18 advantage but North hold wins in 7 of the past 11 outings between the 2 clubs at an average winning margin of 18 pts however when the Eagles have won it's been an average margin of 34 pts. I would expect this game to be a tightly fought contest and streaks are meant to be broken so I'm hoping this is the case.

I wasn't having a dig mate i just thought (sorry I assumed )you wouldn't pay attention to the game because your AFL Team Geelong weren't playing in it .

No offence taken, Im just glad you pointed out to me that the Port v Adelaide game was not at night like I suspected and is in fact on the afternoon (well I assume its not in the morning), that means I'll have to restructure my weekend so Im not at home Saturday afternoon when Mrs Wedgie's screaming at the TV, I had planned to go out Saturday night before.

Agree, wish this game was Saturday arvo.

This is one of those games to "see where we're at". We haven't beaten North at Prospect for a fair while and they are in good form. I use to be worried about North's talented talls - which they still have - but the reason North have beaten us in recent times is because they've had a superior midfield. I think this is an area the Eagles have rectified this season and if we're first to the ball and pressure in numbers, I think we can win.

The winner of this game will be sitting in a very nice position at this early stage of the season.

So after all that I was right and there is no AFL game in Adelaide on Saturday afternoon and the match that night (over 3 hours after the North/Eagles game would have finished is a Port home game).
Hmmm, it appears that despite me being a Geelong supporter I know more of what's going on than you.
Well, my original post stands and is completely correct then. What a stupid exercise having the game on Sunday.

Well I suppose if any of the North or Eagle listed AFL players that don't make their AFL teams will be available for Sundays game .

Mind you last week(anzac day) would have been better on Sunday and this week Saturday .Guess I'll go fishing Saturday morning ;)

Good point but makes no difference for any Port players we have, if we play before they do they pull the player out so he can get a free plane trip and put the Power further into debt, if we play after they do they usually pull the player out so they don't come off a short week for the following week's game which they MIGHT play.
Probably a reason Port are such a successful business.
Admittedly the Crows do behave with a bit more professionalism, but that wouldn't be hard, so do the Aldinga Sharks.

Back onto the game we'll have White comingg off a concussion who was starring before going off at Unley and rumour has it Schwarze may have an injury which would be a huge loss as he's been playing some super football. Archard who was our best player of the season looks to be out for a couple more too.
Not sure how close our 2 crows lads Gill and Sloane will be for selection.

No luke Powell for the Eagles :(

Powell is certainly an out.......

but a potential in is Chris Knights if the Crows decide to give him a local game first before re-calling him.......

he would be a huge in for us....

not sure if Shirley will be back in the crows......

enjoy seeing him play in an Eagles Jumper.....

Gill & Allan have caused the most damage to us in the past.......

but one of them is out.........

should be a great game.......

a spot in the team is at premium by the pressure the reserves are puting on the League players.....

we also have good performing youngsters in the underage doing well......

Looking forward to calling this one.

Two teams on the improve from last year, both with upside still to come based on current injury list.

Will have to think a bit further before making a tip.

Will be live on LifeFM 107.9 / www.life.on.net from 1.30pm on Sunday.

With the league game on Sunday supporters of both teams (more so the Eagles fans) get down to Woodville Oval on Saturday to watch both the u16s and u18s starting at 11.30 am.

I'm with you Phil, really looking forward to what should be a beauty of a contest...

Early stages was leaning towards Eagles but Powell out is a blow for them so maybe North just in a tight one...

I believe our overpaid ex Full Forward has a collarbone or shoulder injury and is unlikely to play this week for North.
