U/16 at Glenelg

Glenelg 4.2 5.6 6.7 8.8 (56)
Central 1.1 1.3 6.3 7.6 (48)

Decent contest but it absolutely bucketed down at times. Ball handling skills pretty low to be expected but the tackling was very good from both sides. Looked like it was Glenelg's game at half time and probably until late into the third quarter, but Centrals piled on four goals in about eight minutes to trail by a kick at the final change but it just got away from them. Last time it was those conditions, Centrals U/17s had 28 goals 33 behinds kicked against their 3 goals 2 behinds, so the promising signs continue. Very impressed with #5 from the Dogs. Don't know his name but his strength and ability to break through some tough tackles set up a couple of goals.

Norwood beat West by over 100 points. Apparently the Bloods only kicked one goal.

Update, courtesy of TM on Redlegs Talk:

Under 16's

Norwood 18.16 = 124
West 1.5 = 11

Under 18's

Norwood 15.5 = 95
West 5.13 = 43

Goals: Langford 4, Shenton, Evans 3, Muster 2, Georgiou, Hofmeyer, Iallegio 1.
Best: Evans, Roberts, Gorringe, Chippendale, Hofmeyer, Harrding.

Nwd Under 18's were 1 point down at 3/4 time and kicked 9 goals to 1 point in the final quarter.

As AH pointed out, Nwd's U/18s have kicked a total of 21 goals in the last quarter of the past two games!

Those Norwood last quarters remind me of the old Alan Kilegrew days at Norwood when we reapeatedly won games by storming home in the last quarter. Remember one day at Norwood Oval we were 5 goals behind at three quarter time and kicked 10 to win by 5.
I remember the Sunday Mail headlines.... " NORWOOD PEP PILLS AGAIN "

U16s
Eagles 0.1 1.4 3.5 4.6.30
South 0.2 0.3 2.5 2.9.21

At the start of the game I could just see the northern goals from the timekeepers box. Lowest total score in 4 and a half years involved with the underage teams.

U18s
Eagles 1.2 1.2 2.4 3.6.24
South 3.0 3.1 5.3 8.6.54

A rather controversial headline by today's standards :)

You may be thinking of the Anzac Day match at Adelaide Oval, Round 2 1962.

Norwood were trailing Port Adelaide 5-7 to 10-15, but booted 10-7 to 1-1 in the final term to win by 22 points.

The following week at the Parade, Norwood trailed Glenelg by 11 points at 3/4 time but stormed home with a 11-6 to 1-3 final term to win the game by 52 points.
