With PAM setting another record on Sunday by losing their first 4 games (coincidentally to the Eagles to whom they set their record of 7 losses in a row a few years ago), I was wondering if it was the first time since 1907 ( when most later day records are taken from) that Port have never had a PAM premiership player playing in their side. Their side looked inexperienced on Sunday and cosidering their record of frequently making GF's ( except this decade), I reckon just about every PAM side since 1907 would have a premiership player in it. This core of premiership players up to 1999 has provided the experience, nouse and will to win previously. It isn't there now. It could well be long serving players AhChee and Clayton may finish their careers without a PAM premiership!
Spelly, maybe you could rise to the challenge or some PAM supporters?

I can't be bothered checking it up, but I'd think none of their losing 1976 GF team had a PAM premiership player in it.

None of the players that played for Port in 1976 had previously played in a premiership. Bruce Light started his career at Port the earliest of the 30 players who played in that year - 1967.

Two players who played for much of that 1966 to 1976 era were Bob Clayton and Keith Spencer. Does anyone know who played more games for Port out of those two stalwarts. I would imagine that the one who played the most games out of those two players would actually be the Port player who has played the most without winning a league premiership.

Spencer played 161 games; Clayton 151.

Spelly, this would be an interesting exercise to list players who played the most games without playing in a premiership for each club.

I know for Norwood it is Robert Oatey with 232 games from 1961 to 1973.

Woodville would have to be Ralph Swer with well over 300, and Central would possibly be Peter Vivian. Can anyone nominate players from their own clubs?

Fred Bills played 313 matches without a flag.
Gavin Colville played 232.
Stuart Palmer with 338 for South.
Nick Chigwidden 291 for Glenelg.
John Richter 258 for Sturt.

Dexter Kennedy - 236 games for West, then another 70 for Port.
Tim Cook - 203 games for North.

We're talking about the club, and we are also talking premierships, not Grand Finals. For example, Robert Oatey has played the most games for Norwood without playing in a flag (232) but he went on to play in the 1974 Sturt premiership team.

Cookie played 117 games at the Doggies and I reckon about 3 or 4 games in the AFL with the Crows.
