Watched the game on ABC2, fantastic effort by the Eagles although Glenelg's day was stuffed up early with poor kicking for goal, and later on with injuries to key players. Still, the Eagles grabbed the game by the short and curlies, and a thoroughly deserved win.

6 goals to Salter, why doesn't he get a game for the Power??

Can someone tell me about Jay Cheep? I hadn't seen him before, but very impressed with his work rate and intensity in the contest. The Budget says he's 24, so he's been hiding somewhere :)

cheep comes from the vfl (geelong i think)

well we were the best side for 1 term but bad kicking is bad footy & if you don't put teams away when you have the chance it bites you on the proverbial, i thought only duldig & c.kane were worthy of a mention for 4 quarters & despite only having 18 fit men by half way through the 3rd term we were never really in it although we never gave up, i thought salter & cheep were wwt's best, i didn't like the cheapshot by treeby in the last term if your going to punch someone at least do it face to face & worse than that the umpire saw it & didn't even have a word, eagles way too good on the day
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I guess this result shouldn't come as a suprise. Radio reported that the Bays haven't won away to the Eagles for years (10 I think they said)

I noticed Treeby seemed to have S.O.L. a few times today. There were a couple of actions early in the game that indicated he wasn't directing his full attention to the ball.

AH, Cheep was recruited from the VFL Geelong side. He was our only interstate recruit for this year.

Mind you, I can go over many players today whose attack for the ball and teamwork was far better than last week. I reakon we found out today why we missed Westbrook over the past two seasons; Jacky was a livewire around goals, Fiacchi was his dependable self on the half back line; Grocke kicked a couple of opportune goals; Salter looked much more committed than last week.

Thankfully we were let off the hook in the first quarter when we were clueless against the Glenelg zone. That was our only downfall of the day. It seems to me that some weeks the side clicks and other weeks they don't. The paper side appears to be impressive but we don't get the performance seen today consistently.

Just another thing today, one of the Eagles cheersquad members was given a decent whack on the cheek - massive egg was left on his face. The police were there taking statements, so I reckon the culprit did a runner. Lets hope that that sort of thing does not go unpunished.

Watching it on TV Eagles thoroughly deserved their win were harder at the ball, kicked straighter and were front and square to the contest more often than not.

Need to bounce back hard next week as we were shown up in a few areas that I know Rubbers is hot on.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yep, we don't need this crap at the football. I really don't know what gets into people who do these things.

well the EAGLES deserved to win

we didnt have too many players that contributed for long enough, and a few of our boys seemed to be off the boil.

The Eagles were sensational in the pressure they applied, they didnt give us time or space.

I didn't see it happen, but I know there would definitely witnesses. Another question to arise out of it - where were the St.Johns volunteers? One Weslo guy (credit where it is due) got some ice for him, but there either wasn't any St.Johns medics there; or they weren't contacted via two-way. Or perhaps by the sound of things they were in the Glenelg changerooms.

A question for Spelly (may not be answerable ) Eagle seconds won by 10 goals or close to it .But were scoreless in the third term any clue if that has happened often.

Jay Cheep our only vic recruit (excluding mitch Banner power listed player).

Lets start by saying my beloved Eagles were very very lucky that a Glenelg team turned up that couldn't kick straight. And for the first term I like many other eagles fans were frustrated by our game plan or lack of it .Our forwards seemed scared to kick goals ,cue luke jarrad to kick a goal.
BUT what happened after 1/4 time suddenly it worked the game plan worked. It enabled the eagles to shut down glenelg and then attack (if that makes sense) quickly most times into our forward lines .Glenelg did come back in the third .the umpires seemed intent on keeping them in the game. And before anyone says anything that mark(to glenelg 20 metres out) came off another players back and not any of the white maggots could see it .Lets be even more controversial here anyone have the stats on frees pre 3/4 time because after 3/4 time umpires mind/eyesight certainly changed .what was always play on against the Eagles started to go the eagles way .inept umpiring and wrong positioning meant many pre 3/4 time frees went missed .and if it showed up on the tv the umps shielding their eyes trying to see.
The Eagles fought back when Glenelg came back Westbrook was under done but he did some good things .i had written Cica and Salter off they certainly improved on the last two weeks effort .Young almond what a star in the making nothing of him and goes all day.
Jay Cheep what a hard player he is not much of him but he is going to be an ICON at OVAL AVE.
And I have missed stuff out sorry guys so good to watch a win .
Loved the guy on the load speaker playing our great song and giving it to the media for writing us off .and i tipped them mmmm by a point.

Go u eagles

Loud Eagle backed a winner the entire G/S knew it ;)

I must say I totally forgot to mention JJ .the absolute best game for the Eagles since being picked up by the Crows and we could all see why he was selected by the Crows.

Well done JJ Salter Westbrook Cheep and everyone .
