09 Season Guide, SANFL DVDs, Guernseys and MORE!

Postby Wedgie » Wed Apr 08, 2009 4:34 pm

The SANFL has advised me to pass on to everyone that they noticed some people had trouble accessing a copy of the 2009 Media Guide at the game last weekend. Each home ground stocked copies at the merch stands but as last year’s copies were available from the Budget sellers most of us may have missed out (including myself, I actually went to the Merch stand to buy the kids some hats but didn't even think to ask).
Anyway, Ive been advised the books will be available again this weekend (at the merchandise stands) and also at the following outlets:

- all SANFL clubs (available from reception)
- AAMI Stadium matchday office at AFL games
- at the SANFL: 1 Turner Drv, West Lakes
- Sportswriter: 63A The Broadway, Glenelg
- At The Toss Of A Coin: 2/ 219 Unley Rd, Malvern
- Sportspower: Elizabeth Shopping Centre, Elizabeth
- Melbourne Sports Books: 80 Flinders St, Melbourne

It can be also be bought via credit card over the phone (8268 2088) or online on the new SANFL merchandise store on the website at sanfl.com.au. The merch store is a newbie – at the moment, the SANFL is currently stocking 2009 match DVDs and Season Guides but will soon have State guernseys and other memorabilia available from the site as well.

If anyone has any further questions feel free to send them to me and I'll email them. :)

Is there any chance that the SANFL have got hold of all the old 50s,60s,70s, etc Grand Finals and converted them to DVD?

Surely this would be a little gold mine for the SANFL? I'd purchase at least 3-4 ClassicGFDVD's I dare say I wouldn't be the only one.

Good to hear that the state jumpers could be made available again soon... The First Bounce was great for that, a shame it had to close. Still have two from that shop, both fully signed by the 2006 & 2008 teams. :D

It is great work from the SANFL and actually went down to AAMI Stadium this afternoon to get a DVD copy of the North v Central game from the weekend and of course a copy of the Media Guide.

Got home and put the DVD on but found out pretty quickly that they may just be having a few teething problems with the new company that have taken over from Charles at Pine Lodge (AAV)

Put the disc in and pressed play and got ready to enjoy the game with the 5RPH commentary dubbed in and for the first 5 minutes I had the LifeFM call of the Port v Glenelg at Alberton. Then they must have realised the error and were frantically scanning through the FM dial to try and find the right call for the game being recorded.

It sat on some Vietnamiese show for a few minutes and then back to LifeFM for another 3 or 4. Finally the penny must have dropped that the game was on 5RPH on the AM dial and they finally got it on track half way through the first quarter. But they were just a little bit out from scanning the channel corectly and it had an annoying buzzing sound for the rest of the quarter.

Then it was finally sorted out and was all good from there. Any one else have the same or similar problem ???

They stuffed up the Port v Glenelg game too.
Didn't get last quarter

Story i got told was, some kid was kicking football at three quarter time and hit the cables and disconnected the camera.

i heard that the stats team was getting feed into their computer until 5 min from end of game.

Rumour now is that the cameraman forgot to take the pause button off after 3 quarter time.

No matter which story, it's just not good enough

What is Sportswriter?

I come over to Adelaide roughly every two years and will be heading over again in May to see an SANFL game and a local league game or two -as well as visiting favourite places such as the Barossa for a few bottles and At The Toss Of A Coin for some souvenirs. Is Sportswriter something to add to the list?

Better set aside some time to visit, then!

Hi Wedgie
I purchased a DVD fro the SANFL and Amnada was great I got the DVD in good time and they were very professional.

My only issue is that when Pinelodge took a video of the game the players were closer up on the screen and clearly more recognisable as individuals. Someone needs to mention to the outfit that are filming the games currently that the wide shots do not need to be used all the time I think they need to zoom in more than what they are currently doing.- especially when the ball is being contested on the ground or marked in a pack situation. The quality of the DVD was excellent. Please do not take this as a criticism it is merely a suggestion

Im just passing on the info mate, haven't got one yet.
I would suspect the wider out viewing is probably done on purpose as I think these are done more for AFL scouts than individual viewing but I could be wrong.
I should get the North v Norwood game, when I get one I'll pass on some feedback to Amanda who could pass it on to the company, the SANFL are pretty good in regard to feedback, etc these days.

Just got the new season guide in the mail today. It's another brilliant effort by Phil and Peter ... I just wish the WAFL would get off its collective blurter and give us something as worthy to invigorate the local competition - crowds are up but media and public profile is still virrtually non-existent except from the matchday coverage on the smaller radio stations and a half-match on the ABC after their AFL commitments.

I'm looking forward to my trip to Adelaide next week and I'll get to see Norwood and Glenelg at the Parade. I have yet to see either side live and am looking forward to it.

How much does it cost to get in for an adult?

It was $9 per adult last year and has gone up to $10 per adult this season...
