New SANFL ad

Postby Brucetiki » Wed Mar 25, 2009 10:40 am

Just saw the new SANFL television ad, and must admit I'm very disappointed with it.

Very tacky, and along the lines of the infamous Tim Shaw ads from a few years ago. Also a few slight exaggerations (why pay $90?) as well.

Bring back last year's ad - that was brilliant.

It's on youtube. Pretty uninspiring.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Found that one on youtube as well, hadn't seen it before. Yup, it's fantastic. Nothing wrong with running the same campaign I would've thought.

On the new ad the concept is ok, BUT the delivery is terrible.

Agree last years theme was better. I guess their message is directed at getting kids back to the footy off the couch. The $90 would be referring to what it costs for an computer game. My nephew paid $99 for one Xbox game.

Agreed. Not appalling but uninspired and uninspiring. Vision of people queueing to buy food - that'll get the masses excited.

Ah, I thought they were referring to paying $90 for an AFL ticket, which is a slight exaggeration (bar prelim/grand finals).

Agreed not as good as last year, to save costs they could've just re-edited the vision from last year and done the same campaign.

However I don't think it is that bad either. The good in it outweighs the bad.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Agree 100%, show the marks, bumps, flukey goals not the food lines. Last years was much better.

Wouldn't be an easy task ... I guess their thinking would be to not play too heavily on those aspects that are going to get us hardcore supporters back, as we already attend regularly.

The play on value both monetary and having your kids involved outdoors as opposed to on the Playstation is a good one, and for the older folk who have left the comp, it mixed in a bit of footy with the other grassroots benefits you don't get at AFL games.

Really begs the question though (and I know we've discussed this before), seriously, what were they thinking in "cheesing" the ads up those years back when Shaw was involved?!?!

You are still part of the league - there's no excuse not to have certain teams in an advert promoting the League.
