25,000 probably doubtful but i think over 20,000 would be a big chance given good weather as i can see 7,500-10,000 going to the norwood v port match & 8,000-11,000 going to the glenelg v sturt match & possibly 5,000 to the other two matches combined, i for one will be at 2 games over that weekend......so can we get a 'huge' round 1 total attendence ?

bayman, 5000 for the other 2 matches combined.... im sorry but CDFC vs WWTFC will attract about 5000 alone, none of which will be front running bandwagoners.... ala Sturt supporters last year

Our crowds have been right up there for a long time mate. Sure they dropped off in the 90's but since our resurgence to consistent finals footy our averages are as good as any well supported SANFL club. Don't act as if your club won't do it when you finally fall off the perch.
Remember your crowds before you had any success? I remember going to Lizbeff oval and the crowd being around the 1500 mark when you guys weren't far from the bottom.

Shite crowds mate. Me and about 20 others and that was it. Early 90's was a bad time for the league though. I don't think crowds were all that good for anyone.
I remember seeing crowds of around 1100 at times, against South and West. Take a look at the crowd behind the banner in this photo
http://www.sturtcheersquad.com/apps/pho ... d=17577271 During the period of 89 to 95 i missed around 10 games in total. Stuck with them through the bad times when most people didn't. Not bad for someone who was 12 in 89 and most of my friends were jumping off and supporting other teams.
I just get a bit narcy when people try to say we're the only ones to drop off when we're losing. It happens to all teams

I reckon all 20 of those others must have posted on here, everytime Sturt crowds get questioned there are a plethora of Sturt supporters around to tell us they "went to every game through the dark years"!
I would think 4-5,000 at Elizabeth.

As a mater of fact most of the one's that were there with me do post on here, Barto for example. Of course i was underplaying the amount of actual Sturt supporters that were at games back then though i wouldn't be wrong when I say that at times it would have been as low as 300 with the other 700 or larger the mob we were playing.

Don't have much to say about your own club mate. Reckon you might be a closet Sturt supporter considering how much you comment about us

We'll be there mate, we'll be there. We might even add some monkey bars to the playground so our players can do chin ups. Gotta be better as a weights program than doing anything in our bathroom size gym

You might be a bit selective on your memory there mate, North and West drew well over 30k for the GF in 91 and on average crowds were a hell of a lot bigger than they are now across the board.
But I do agree there were stuff all Sturt supporters around.

Norwood and Port in Rd 1 average 6-7K in recent years ..... with no Crows in town here is hoping for 8K
West @ South usually averages approx 1300-1500 BUT its Rd 1 and no SFL to compete with, 2000 not out of the question.
Sturt @ Glenelg is the big question mark, played just minutes after Crows vCollingwood finishes.... 10K please
Eagles @ Central again b4 country footy starts could attrach 5K but history says around 4k max
Crowds at the last 3 will be a little higher than previous with a 3rd / 4th game played
Personally without seeing the weather I would hope for 20K plus to get people attention that the SANFL is back
Wouldn't it be interesting is the SANFL total got close to the Power crowd on Sunday v Essendon.

With 4 games at Elizabeth starting with U16s throught to an early evening league game should get quite a few at CDFC v WWTFC.
