Only have final scores, no other results. Anyone that was at the game care to make comment on what they saw...

Final Score:

Port - 19.15 = 129
North 9.7 = 61

Port Adelaide by 68 points.

I am no good at this stuff but better than nothing

Port 4.1 9.4 12.8 19.15
North 3.2 6.3 7.5 9.7

Mercer, Lobbe 3, Clayton, Mardling, Perkins, Waterhouse 2, Bowes, Murray, Dolling, Weetra 1
Stewart, Millar, Brown, Tapscott, Thiele 1

yes I know some are missing, better than nothing though

PORT

Gareth Bowes - very good, a Clayton look alike but more of a link man and deliverer to the forwards. Foot skills looked average early but in the second half he kept hitting targets.

Lobbe - looks to lumber around but as a key forward he kept making the contest and takes the pressure off of Mercer and Waterhouse. Competes well at ground level, good mark without having strong hands.

Barham - contested well at CHF but hardly touched it, he wont dominate but again he adds structure to the forward line.

NORTH

Cohen Thiele - dominated early, a real relevation. Now ready for senior football.

North played a lot of kids so dont read a lot into the result other than Port is a better outfit than last year. Magpie supporters get on board. Top 3 a possibility.

North supporters will finally see some kids get pushed up to the seniors.

NOTE : Phil Davis played the reserves, shocking first quarter but very good after that in the reserves. He will play a lot of senior football this year. He has added a bit of size to his frame.

First half was fairly close. North rested a few players in the 2nd half like White and Sporn. Don't know about Port but North had lots of players missing like Allan, Younie, Alleway, etc. Port seemed to take the game very seriously, one of their guys got reported for a hip-and-shoulder to the head. Decent 'crowd' there, 200-300 people, Port supporters seemed very excited about the win.

I'm eagerly awaiting beenreal's summation of yet another glorious stepping stone on the shining path of Port's transcendent rise to the exalted altar.

Good signs for the Magpies as they sounded a warning to the rest of the competition. Very potent attack with multiple goal kickers:
Mercer 4, Loobe 3, Clayton, Waterhouse, Dolling, Perkins 2, Mardling, Murray, Saunders, Bowes 1.

Good to see Clive give off four handballs as well.

North were missing Alleway, Ackland, Allan, McEntee, Ryswyk, Younie, and O'Hara, but we were missing a couple, and you can only beat the opposition that comes your way.

Beenreal how did the Magpies improve from the week before ?
And if stated above there was 200 - 300 why would there appear less fans than the week before when the Power was playing ?I suppose the North faithful stayed home .
and i am asking a serious question not taking the Piss .as last week the Magpies started like a train on fire .then went missing and then came back.

cheers

The competion needs a strong Port and Norwood and it looks like we will get that this year.
North are an unknown quantity yet but I think they will be right up there at end of year.
I think South and West are the only two who you would not expect to make the finals. Westies can not play finals with that list and game plan.

First game Norwood v Port....can not wait !

Not sure about last week because I was at Day On The Green. Asked around about last week though and was told Tim G took Jeremy Clayton, Ah Chee, Summerton, Dolling, Lokan, Saunders, Elstone and DePasquale off for the last quarter.

I did comment to a Mate about the good crowd numbers, with a fair few North supporters there as well.

Last week very few magpie fans (compared to normal game without the Power).
Tim G was changing everyone last week .I think you guys ran the Eagles almost to stand still but not all the way, changing four guys at once.
So really the Magpies are not that much better than last week by reading your comments.
Perhaps someone who saw both games could enlighten us better .Far to early to say Port will shake the dogs of their purch.

There was a lot more than 200-300 there, I was amazed at how large the crowd was, largest Ive seen for a trial game probably ever. More there than most South/West league games. There was 200-300 in the bar alone!

Thanks Wedgie I thought that total was a bit low.

Thanks mate. Where did he play, in defence? What improved in his game from the first quarter?

The crowds at the two Norwood trials have been much larger than I've ever seen before. This is encouraging for the league.

Is this a reflection of the crap style of football that is being played in the NAB cup, are people finally coming back to the good guys.

Apart from the Crows, I've watched maybe 50 mins total of the NAB Cup.

The NAB Cup is awful and gets worse every year. Rule changes + garbage squads + poor umpiring = rubbish and boring competition.

Just bring on Rd.1 already...

The crowd at Arctic Park wasn't to bad either. A bit harder to judge though because everyone sits in their cars but it was alot more than I expected.

Davis was playing CHB.

In the first quarter he just looked totally lost like a player coming back from injury that had been out for two years. Wrong spot wrong time, which looked like a lack of endeavour but I think that would be to harsh on the boy.

From there he became a dominate figure at CHB making a few big spoils and having a physical presence in the marking contest. Almost tokk 3 or 4 big contested pack marks but did not quite hold the ball long enough but still took some good marks.

Suffered a bit from tying to play AFL football at reserves level by trying to find the perfect option rather than just playing football, this got better as the game went on.

All in all if you are a Crows supporter you would have to be happy to have him on your list.
