The winner definitely has to be Richard Lounder, and he went as a number 1 draft selection

I reckon that one can be beaten Sydney-Dog.....
Anyone remember Richard Marr? Anyone even heard of him?
A very big 17/18 year old drafted to Fitzroy in 1992.
Pick 114.
He played ressies for Centrals, but never did any more.
Needless to say he didn't go to Fitzroy.
I think he was drafted at around the same time Kym Eyres went to North Melbourne from Centrals.
Also in that draft were future Centrals premiership players Marty McKinnon (#26 to Adelaide) and Hugh Reimers (#76 to St Kilda).

Greg Whittlesea.
He was a champion at Sturt, won a magarey medal, but failed when he moved to Hawthorn before returning to SA and playing mostly reserves footy with Glenelg.

Cheers REB, I knew I could rely on you to bring up this old chestnut...
Read Barrasi's autobiography circa 1995 co written by P Mcpharlin, Barrasi states that if Cornes had stayed at North Melbourne and had been prepared to stay as a permanent Forward pocket instead of R/Rover that he wanted to be, they wouldn't have lost the Prelim to Collingwood and then who knows.......
Barassi basically says that if it wasn't for their difference of opinion Cornes would have cut it at the VFL level, maybe not as good as Russell did that year, but he definately wasn't a Dud. North wanted him to stay but Cornes wanted to go home and lead Glenelg to 7th in 1979

Remember watching the first game he played for Fitzroy and hearing the commentator say "there's a scuffle off the ball involving new recruit Brenton Klaebe". To say I wasn't surprised would be an understatement.

Port have had a couple.
In recent times, Aaron Fiora has never lived up to the #3 draft pick tag. For someone that looked so good as a 17 year old playing in the SANFL in 99, hes always been a much maligned player at both his AFL clubs.
One going back a bit was Michael Gaffney. Was picked up very late by Sydney. Never looked like making it at SANFL level let alone AFL level.

Reimers never tasted premiership success.
Trent Cummings went to West Coast and promptly disappeared. Tony Lynn was picked up in the controversial AFL mid-year draft by Carlton and he too spent the rest of his days as a reserves regular in Melbourne.

Who did Jonothan Ross play for in the SANFL?
Surely the biggest joke draftee in the AFL. Did nothing at the Crows, then was traded to Collingwood. Was promptly arrested in the week he arrived.

I think Ross was from the legs. Another that comes to mind was Chris Groom, South boy. Both oozed talent but never quite came on.

Jonathon Ross was indeed from the Legs .. Had plenty of talent IMHO but obviously in the mould of many others, was more serious about the grog, the clubs and the biffo .. Makes him sound like the standard SAAFL player of the 80's and early 90's!

In recent memory I'd have to go with Michael Polley.
Somehow cracked it for 6 AFL games for Melbourne in Balme's last coaching year of '97.
Might have played one or two league games for us but I wouldn't be surprised if it was none.
Went up to Mt Lofty in the Hills after that and didn't exactly set the world on fire up there either.

lindsay smith (i dont think he played an afl game but i do stand corrected) he got drafted on one game against sturt at unley did nothing before or since
