Our club web site is the place to go for up to date news from the Eagles and the members only emails will also keep you up to date if you've joined or rejoined the WWTFC.

We have almost reached the 1000 members mark - so do get on board.

Check the club website for the following:

Trial games timetable for all grades – league, reserves, u18 and u16 – remember our first game is a quadruple with all 4 grades playing at Elizabeth on 28th March.

Board appointments and Life Memberships

Player updates

Ron Fuller's Eagles team from our current AFL players

All details for the Registration Days for the Metro West Junior League Clubs – all the juniors in our district from u8 through u16 get to your local club and sign for footy in 2009.

I renewed my membership and received the badge/stickers/clubroom pass etc about two weeks ago but I have not received any members email of eagles news. I understand I was probably too late in joining to recieve eagles news #2 but has #3 also been released? If it has I have not received it despite including my email address on my membership renewal application. Who could I email to get them to fix the problem up?

Thanks

Regular emails to members about to start up - still re doing lists as we move to the members only system rather than anyone who signed up.

Thus I'm putting bits and pieces up to keep the news flowing.

The last email that went out was Ron's pre-season coach's report.
It is also on the club website in case you missed it.

Ron also spoke at the AGM about how pleased he is with the squad for 2009.

Will be interesting to see how Todd Miles goes at WWT. Very athletic but didn't hang around too long at Port when he and Slattery went there.

I went to school with him. Started A grade at Hamley Bridge, won a flag there, tried at Port with Slattery but went back to the bridge. Been at Min Man in the NEFL the last couple of years. Has played State Country footy.

Todd played a couple of reserves games with us last year but hurt his knee and went away to get it right and has returned to give it another go......

although unlikely to play this year Rhett Biglands is an inspiration if you see what he is doing at training trying to get himself right!

Rhett is very much part of the club.

To all members and supporters the Bistro at Oval Ave is open every Thursday and Friday for the best priced meals around - no pokies and a fun environment for all.

The raffles are back on both nights along with the members cash draw.
Each Thursday players will be in attendance - a chance to catch up with your favourite player and grab an autograph. (Friday night if a Sunday game)

The following are my personal thoughts/observations on the AGM
I thought the AGM went very well with an excellent turn out of members.
It was announced that Kurt Slaven would be the new chairman of the club with Les Stevens being president for 2009.
Life memberships were also presented to Vera Applebee, Jim Owens and Justin Cicollela
Ron Fuller gave details of how he sees the season shaping up and spoke in high regard of the work the squad has put in.
Ron was also available to the members for a question session which went over well with the members.
Many members took the opportunity to question the board re the financial performance of the club given our significant loss in 2008. They were able to hear of the plans to return to making a small profit in 2009.

Interesting little grab in the Ben, Bec & Buzz section of today's Sunday Mail...

Woodville West Torrens skipper Mark Mackenzie said that due to the struggling financial situation of most SANFL clubs, including the Eagles, all the players have decided to sign on as paid up members of the club. I think it is a great idea but would hope that most players are financial members of their club anyway.
