My thoughts from seeing photo in todays Tiser, is where the **** is the shelter from da elements (rain/sun). Surely a better grandstand capable of international standards is needed.
Thoughts??

Here's a link for those who are unfamiliar with the proposed stands.

Will they build decent changerooms there as well, then we can play AFL football at Adelaide oval and get the Tram to go all the way to the oval.

Must get out of this fantasy land I live in

I don't think it looks too bad - has a bit of a 'Gabba feel with the shadecloth roofing.

Is the whole stand going to be always used as members, or will the Edwin Smith Stand still be available for the public for SANFL and domestic cricket games. Be good to watch SANFL games from the new stand as well I reckon.

The Board of the NAFC will be excited by the news the re-development is now going ahead! They will be able to 'dust' off the plans again to move home games from Prospect to AO and I bet they can't wait to receive Business Plan No. 2 from the SACA!!!

At international cricket matches I think the Bradman Stand is returned to the public while the other 3 remain members I could be wrong about that though

Looks alright. Design overall is good but the roof might look a bit dodge once you actually see it up. Don't think it quite fits in with the asthetics of the rest of the stands.

On first impression I don't like it. I think it changes the character of the ground completely. I like the red rooves of the old stands.
Chappell stands are okay, they blend in just enough IMO.
Bradman stand is okay, but the loss of the old John Creswell stand is a tragedy. It was a classic old stand with steep rows of seating that could cram a few thousand in. It had sensational acoustics also. I remember a couple of pisspots sitting in that stand during a Shield match and they were hauranging the West Oz players, especially Marsh and Lillee. You could hear every word they said all around the ground as clear as a bell. Marsh later got fined for abusing them back. But that is just to give you an idea of how well it amplified noise. Cheersquads that sat in the back of the old John Creswell could also be heard just as clearly, even if the ground was packed and going off.
Maybe I'll warm up to the new proposal given time, but for now I think the stands look too plastic in the ornate surroundings of Adelaide Oval.

I'm With TheRi here, bastardising our unique oval too much will be a travesty.

I'm a traditionalist. Modernism for its own sake was experimented with in the 1950s and faded again.
I'm just a bit worried about the stability of the roof structure in high wind, but I concede I don't have the engineering skills and training to check the calculations for myself

I heard a different club is investigating leaving its home and moving there after the completion.

No secret that the SACA put 'proposals' to both North and Sturt but at least the Sturt Board didn't vote to move back there!

As far back as 2005 the North Board, all except the former Chairman voted to move home games to AO. This was re-inforced in 2007 with the addition of an invited new Board member who was also heavily involved at Management level with the SACA. The only reason North didn't proceed is that the SANFL fell out with the SACA over the AFL games at AO issue and therefore our club was "forced" to tow the SANFL political line and support them. Although there was a backlash in 2007 / 2008 from supporters when the rumours turned to fact - the decision to move games to AO had been made ages before!

Trust me the AO issue will be well and truly on the radar at Prospect still despite the constant denials from the President which gives no one any comfort because he has turned out to be a bumbling fool who had to run crying to Gerard to blackmail his way back for another term. The fact the proposed Prospect Oval re-development plans are on hold which the current Board says is due to the Council reviewing their plans, my mail is that the NAFC is not that committed to Prospect so that is a convenient excuse.

The current Board (and CEO) of the NAFC is an out of control shambles who have no concern for the member / supporter base of the club.

Well after the events surrounding the AGM and Financials I think a few more people who had faith in the Board and CEO are starting to question things. It might take some time but change will happen - especially if bumbling Bohdan stays as President! Whats that old saying, "You can fool some of the people............."???

Im not a fan at all. Far too much character will be lost. The unique thing about Adelaide Oval, as it stands today, is that is a traditional home of cricket. Part of this is the old grandstand along the western side. Fair enough the development of the Chappell Stands, they look great and are great for the look of the ground. Apart from extra seating, I believe the proposed stand detracts totally and doesnt add any character whatsoever. Personally i would prefer that AFL footy wasnt played there, rather they did up AAMI a bit more.
All of a sudden we are left with a stadium with only the scoreboard as a representative of all the history of the Adelaide Oval. I wonder how long it will be before that too is sacrificed??
