Quoted from the roost
Board and Members
North Adelaide Football Club
PO Box 194
PROSPECT SA 5082
Dear Members
It has come to my attention that there is a group forming in the Club that is trying to make some drastic changes to the present Board and management of the North Adelaide Football Club.
I would like to make it clear that as a sponsor of 21 years (which I believe is the longest running sponsorship in the history of the SANFL), through the companies of Gerard Industries Pty Ltd and Gerard Corporation Pty Ltd using the brand name Clipsal and also the brand name Mistral, that we have been extremely happy with the way that the North Adelaide Football Club has been running.
It is only in very recent years that the Club has also, after facing difficult times, become very financially strong and handled itself extremely well in that very important part of the portfolio. The Club has put itself into a position of financial strength and now with the new team heading its football department by the way they changed the recent coach, I am sure we are heading towards a very good SANFL season.
This is not the time to try and change the Club, it is a time to consolidate behind the present Board and management team and new coach in his first year. I hope the Club and all those present financial membrs see reasoning and I put my full support from Gerard Corporation and the brand name Mistral behind the present NAFC.
Yours sincerely
Robert Gerard AO
Executive Chairman
Was very interested to read this on the roost and the concern a few of the forum members have shown, eplain how the pokie baron's of the SANFL make a loss and at election times a powerful sponsor at your club can start using muscle to members and have this letter attached to AGM's.

Are you inferring it isn't quite, "all for one, one for all" at NAFC ATM....

The fact that this letter was delivered in copies of the North Adelaide 2008 yearbook is outrageous behaviour on the part of both Gerrard and Elliot and should be condemned in the strongest possible terms by NAFC members both publically and at the ballot box.
SANFL board members need to realise that they are merely custodians of a club that'll be around much longer than they will and should stop acting like tinpot despots.
Having endured the Friends of Norwood debacle where my club was ripped apart to satisfy the shallow egos of chancers like Michael Pratt I can only hope that a few on North's current board get chucked out on their ear.

Well it was financially prudent as it saved postage costs following a $176 000 loss....

Speaking of the "pokie barons of the SANFL" making a loss; I found out last night that Andrew Jarman reckons the the facilities at Perth FC are far superior, I was surprised at that considering Perth are a bunch of paupers and I'd been reading on here for sometime about how rich North are going to be running the two venues.

one of your few decent contributions TW- good to get an outsider viewpoint on something that North members feel strongly about.

It comes across as Gerard telling supporters it's his way or the highway. Vote for who I want or I'll spend my money elsewhere. Either you support the club or you don't, not sponsoring your mates on the board.
How much money does the bloke pump into the club and can you afford to tell him to sod off?

Yes, some of those "Friends of Norwood" may have been friends with each other but they weren't too friendly towards the Norwood Football Club. Not in my eyes anyway. This is the problem we have in football clubs when people start pushing their own agenda rather than act in the best interest of the club.
I make it a point not to comment on the internal affairs of clubs other than my own so I will refrain from comment on the letter and its intent.

Surely someone is allowed to comment on an issue about another club without having to comment on his own club?

Of course they are but you have to question their motives if they do.

Think you'd find a few comments about the loss on
http://safooty.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=20234 which was started by a Glenelg person. Can't see any Glenelg person ignoring it on here or the Snouts site.

Hey what can you say about a loss like that, The CEO has resigned and the the people on the committee who oversaw the portfolio are still in place and havent taken any of the blame
Heads should roll but some people there in certain positions think they are untouchable and until they stand up and have the balls to "say ive failed in my job", i wont comment because they are as weak as p##s.
This thread was started as some rooster supporters cant believe it never made it onto this site, dont shoot the messenger
