Mark Bradley (formerly South Adelaide, Ruck/Forward). The Chief returns to South after several years in Victoria where he played for Casey Scorpions and Noble Park. Versatile he can play ruck or hold down a key position at either end of the ground.

Adam Cockshell (Port Power/Norwood) Centre Half-forward. South Adelaide has recruited Adam with the expressed desire of holding down centre-half forward. An Athletic 198cm, the 22-year old can play back and pinch hit in the ruck, however it is as a forward target the Panthers feel he can make the most impact.

Simon Dean (Noarlunga/West Adelaide), Midfield/Fwd. A talented junior player Simon has spent the last couple of seasons at Noarlunga. Still only 21, the extremely fit and skillful midfielder is keen for another crack at the SANFL.

Michael Gugliotta (NT Thunder U18s/Nightcliff) Key Forward/Defender. Talented 195cm key position prospect that can hold down key forward, defensive spots or use his athleticism on a wing. Considered extremely unlucky not to be on an AFL list in 2009, Michael is a graduate of the AFL/AIS program. Good in the air Michael is an exciting talent for the Panthers.

Jak Kennedy-Hunt (Werribee VFL/Geelong Falcons) Half Forward/Half Back. A high-marking forward or defender Jak’s last two seasons have been impacted by injury and illness. Still only 20, South have Jak earmarked for a lead-up forward role who is sure to enjoy the wide open spaces of Hickinbotham Oval.

Nathan Lyons (Williamstown VFL/Western Jets) Midfield. A pacy midfielder Nathan did the 2008 pre-season with Melbourne but missed out on a rookie spot. At 20 years old he made his debut in the strong Williamstown line-up during the year, where his ball winning ability and defensive pressure were a highlight.

Nick McKenna (Burnie Dockers) Key Defender. Very talented 192cm key defender, who has been on the radar of several AFL clubs over the past two seasons. A gifted athlete Nick recently missed out on a national qualifying time for swimming and also competes in 400m and 800m running events. Nick represented the Northern Tasmanian FL and the Australian Amateur team on their tour of Ireland in 2008.

Lee Schmidt (Corowa-Rutherglen) Forward/Midfield. The 22 year old from country Victoria made the All-Australian Country team after the national championship this year. It was the second year in a row Lee had represented the VCFL. A clever small forward he kicked over 70 goals in the strong Ovens & Murray League in 2008.

Simon Dean is an interesting recruit. He played a league game at West when he was only 16, I think. He was an extremely explosive junior, both in talent and on-field approach.

I hope he does well at South.

Yeah i remember it was when someone pulled out just before the start at Alberton when Rehn was coaching. He had played 3 quarters in the 2's before hand.

it would be easier to read if there were spaces between each player ;)

South have lost Travis Baird and Ian Prendergast, yet in some positive news for the Panthers have been able to recruit some high quality players into the side, it is my thoughts that our side for 2009 clearly has been improved as a result.

South are a genuine chance of moving forward up the ladder from eighth position where we finished in 2008 and I feel quite confident we will give several other SANFL sides more than just a bloody nose on the way up the ladder. ;)

To be honest I am lookin forward to see further development in Boyd, Redigolo, Ferguson, Carroll and Turner.

I really think that if these kids keep their heads screwed on that they could become a dominating force in the SANFL in 4 years time.

Although we have only recruited a couple of higher profile players, the other blokes we have picked seem to have been good quality players in their respective leagues.
Another big plus is they are young, and I hope they all fit in well. The club has a very young list but it does look good for the future, and I cannot wait to see some of these new blokes playing in the upcoming trials.
Thing are looking up in panther land!! ;)

The chief was a bit of a cult hero down South last stint from what I recall....great to see him back (unless he tears us apart!)

He is still no Gordon Gatti or Klanger Klenjans...

Saw Simon Dean play a few games last year for the shoes and the guy does not stop running. One game in particular in pooring rain, late into the game he took a kick out, the ball travelled the whole feild and he was the man taking a shot at goal. Good engine hopefully he gets a few games for the panthers

I dont think we will ever see another of those 2.

Actually played with them back in the late 80's early 90's. Absolute ripper blokes, and didnt mind a bit of a party either. :D
