Bays Officials In Rundle Mall???

I heard a story that apparently a couple of bays officials got a bit offended with the reaction from some dogs fans today. An official approached "gday fellas can I bother ya for a second" .The response from the dogs fans "No real interest mate, I'm a Centrals Supporter. Nice effort in the grand final BTW".
Apparently they got glared at.
Personally I think it is great to see SANFL clubs in the face of the general public asking for membership.

If the Bays officials you are refering to were in the Myer Centre yesterday, next to the escalator that leads down to the food court, then you could be talking about me! I went passed and a guy looked at me and said something about Glenelg and I just said to him respectfully "Sorry mate, i'm a Centrals supporter" and kept walking and got on the escalator down to the food court.
Oh, and the lamb roast that I had 2 minutes later was nice!

that they are. I once did and AFL game at Footy Park Crows vs Collingwood with a mate. Never again. Worst job in the world but I got to go to the footy for free

.
All they want is your cash so they can take their cut the more they sell the more they get paid.

Yeah they're definately third party sellers. I did it for a Crows raffle years ago - get stuck in a back alley or Lobethal and it ends up costing you to work, hence I quit very quickly. It made me understand why they're quite aggressive in selling the tickets though.
The Crows had to stop using them on match days after a couple got sprung rigging the raffles. The Crows now have their home match lotto - you pay $20 to the club at the start of the year, and they draw it every home game.

They do not sell memberships, they are professional lottery ticket sellers who link with local clubs to give their lottery a community feel. The club involved (in this case Glenelg) assist with some of the prizes and take a small portion of the funds collected otherwise they just take the money for minimal effort.
My understanding is that the SANFL has rules about clubs doing pubic promotional activities out of their zones area (ie generally can't do it bar a league sanctioned event like Royal Show or something) at the risk of a fine.
However these raffle sellars are not included in this.
When I was down at South I was quite livid when they turned up at Colonades and commenced initial plans to retaliate by putting a South float in the Glenelg Christmas Pageant ... then common sense took over.

Lucky you didn't Phil, if it was a South float it probably would have broken down or gone the wrong way.
I agree with some above, it is a taxxing job, I did it a few times on a voluntary basis for North in the 90s. I think these days if I had to do it I'd just fork out a few hundred dollars and buy them all myself.

So Glenelg raffle sellers can't do a live show in Colonnades then ?

SANFL clubs should be restricted to selling their tickets within either their local zone or their country zone out of respect for the other sides in the SANFL. Despite being a vital fundraiser for the club its also a promotional activity for the club for which there are supposed to be rules to prevent from the SANFL management.

So when a South member/supporter (I know of one) living in Hallett Cove (Glenelg's zone) sells a raffle ticket to a fellow Souths member/supporter who hapens to visit him at home he and the SAFC should be sanctioned by the SANFL??? Where do you stop??
As a former resident within South's zone (Aldinga) I'm glad I could purchase my clubs tickets in that zone if i still lived there....
