CEO Resigns

I was at the club last night when the President Paul Sperling announced that Damian Phillips had resigned effective immediately and that the club was seeking help from the SANFL to resolve some issues. An interim replacement has been named and will start on 5/1/09, his name is Jim Russell(i think it was jim) and he had played for Sturt, Norwood and Collingwood. It will be interesting to see what comes out of all of this because i smell a rat.

I am i right in saying when Damian Phillips took the job as CEO of WAFC he did say that was a only going to be a stepping stone in his corporate career.

that would be the case with every CEO in the SANFL...its the nature of the CEO role in any business

Tassie I can also smell the same rat, hopefully we can find a good replacement or Doug Thomas could be reborn, sounded really well when he rang KG last week on 5AA

Interestingly enough, Heard through some very accurate people that 6 of the 9 clubs will make bad losses, two of the clubs have the SANFL very very worried. No names of the two but they were fierce rivals during the 70's. Another clue would be they are on a differing side of The River Torrens than each other. One is a very leafy suburb and the other would be close to the sea, cqant say naymore or I may give it away

That narrows it down a bit, either Norwood has a high profile admin (alegedly) going, or it's North, spill ya guts CP

And he comes in with a strong background in financial management so that adds to the already pungent smell i say.

Worrying times for the WAFC, especially with the comment made about the club going to the SANFL to "help resolve some of the issues".

Some of the membership and supporters got a lot of pleasure out of sticking knives into the back of Doug Thomas, I am not so sure though if this is the result they were looking for though....

Still its better that the club does turn to the SANFL before its too late because at least now steps can be taken to correct the issues, far better that than waiting until the recievers are called in later on to try and make some decisions.
