GENERAL MANAGER – STATE LEAGUE COMPETITION ANNOUNCED
The SANFL is pleased to announce the appointment of Darren Chandler to the key executive position of General Manager – State League Competition.
Darren brings to the position 13 years of experience in football administration, including the past seven years as the Glenelg Football Club CEO.
Prior to that, Darren worked at the League for nine years in the roles of Affiliated Leagues Manager, Football Services Manager, State Development Coordinator and Senior Development Officer.
As General Manager, Darren will lead the continued growth of the SANFL State League Competition from 2009 onwards.
SANFL Executive Commissioner Leigh Whicker welcomed the new appointment.
“Darren’s experience as a player and official, coupled with his business acumen and management skills, has made him the ideal candidate to step into the General Manager – State League Competition position,” he said.
“Darren has worked closely with the Glenelg board and staff over the past seven years to develop the club as a respected, professional organisation both on and off the field.
“His experience as a leader in football development has furnished him with the necessary skills to succeed in the key appointment.”
Darren said he was looking forward to working with the SANFL and its nine League clubs to maintain the strength of the SANFL competition.
“After significant growth in the past couple of years, the challenge will be to maintain and build on the competition’s reputation as the best of its kind in Australia,” he said.
Darren commences the role on Tuesday, January 27, taking over from Glen Rosser, who was recently appointed to the new position of General Manager – Community Football.
