Phil Davis - information please

Can some Rooster fans out there please tell me about Phil Davis?

The footage I've seen of Phil he appeared to be playing as a key defender, good mark, well balanced, good kick without being startling.

However, I pick up today's Sunday Mail and he's described as an elusive forward with keen goal sense.

I have no idea. The footgage may have been a reserves or underage game, it was hard to tell.

I know Phil didn't play a huge amount of footy this year with the Roosters for 2 reason I think.

Firstly, I think he had school footy commitments with one of the college teams and he had a shoulder injury from memory.

I do remember a reserves game he played against Centrals on Anzac Day at Adelaide Oval this season just gone. He played predominantly as a CHF and from memory kicked 4 or 5 goals that game. Has a good set of hands and is a pretty good kick for goal.

I know he is from Canberra originally and played in North Adelaide's Under 17's premiership last season. I hope this helps AH...

Cheers,

BP

Having watched all our 'ressies' games this year I can sum him up as follows:

Played out of full foward / fwd pocket, needs some bulk on him, good hands, good height and kicks straight. If he doesn't get drafted a big chance to "pinch" a senior spot this year at North. Very good "prospect" (excuse the pun!).

That footage of him is from 2007 under 17's finals series.

He started the year in the under 19's and was quickly elevated to the reserves where he played FF and kicked about 13 goals in 3 games.

The Under 18's state trials started the next week and he was playing CHB and he did his shoulder in that game. He came back a month later to play against vic metro and stood watts and beat him in the first quarter (or at least controlled him) copped a knock on his shoulder in the second and watts toweled him up. Davis did not play any football for the rest of the season after half time of that game.

Elusive forward certainly not the way I would have described him. Versatile key position player would be more apt.

He won't play at North next year unless the Crows or Port draft him. AH is interested because Hawthorn is possibly going to use pick 16 to take him. I'd be astonished if he wasn't drafted.
