although always sad when a great player (of any club) retires, i'd like to congratulate paul 'forest' sherwood on an outstanding career at glenelg & after going through the tough times at least he got to experience a grand final albeit on the wrong side of the ledger, i always enjoyed the way he played & his never give up attitude
cogratulations paul & i hope your post footy life is as rewarding as the pleasure you gave me watching you play for the tigers

Always admired Sherwood as a player, particularly a few years back when the Bays were struggling, but he kept fronting up stopping opposition forays and throwing caution to the wind with his attacking dash out of defence .. Best of luck to the bloke.

Well done to the Forrest, he was there for most of my teen years so i have a big soft spot for him as many Bays fans would. Always gave his all and was a class act.
Very sad to see him go

Along with AhChee, one of the best Full Backs going round in recent times. Always admired Sherwood, he was a stand out when Glenelg were down and out. Deserved to be part of a winning team, as Glenelg have been in the last couple of years.

A fantastic player that almost got the send off that he deserved. One of the best full backs if not the best of the 2000's. Good luck to him with his future.

Was lucky enough to meet Paul earlier in the year when he did some special comments work for LifeFM...
He is a very nice guy to talk with and I enjoyed talking to him for a few hours that afternoon...
Had always admired him as one of the better full backs in the comp over the last decade of SANFL footy...
Congratulations on a great SANFL career Forrest and all the best in retirement and for the future...

Given where he played the last half of the year, NOW Ferguson is the best CHB in the comp.....

Classless attempt at humour/sarcasm on a thread purely sending congrats to a Glenelg great.
Congrats Forrey. A true great of our club. Gave his all week in... week out. Carried himself on and off the ground with pure class. An awesome example to the blokes coming through on what loyalty and commitment is all about. Deserved his state selections... and thankfully the side had some success in the last couple of years. Rarely missed a game. Presented himself always in immaculate condition.
Quality blokes wear the 16... Marshall... Sherwood... someone has a lot to live up to in coming years.
With Sammy R now also departing... the shoes Forrey leaves are MASSIVE to fill.

Just didnt think it was the time/place thread for "ferguson/chb" jibes.
Leave that to other threads IMO. This thread should only be about congratulating a man who gave his all for the GFC.

You forgot Stan Wickham.
But yes a great career characterised by two words loyalty and dedication.

Speaking of marvellous careers coming to an end, there was a good page spread on Sturt ruckman Simon Feast in today's Advertiser.
Big Feasty is going to stick around Unley in season 2009 as forward line coach. He said he has conceded defeat to his body and realised last year that this seaosn would be his last.
Congrats to Feasty and Forrest and ALL the players from ALL of the SANFL clubs that retired at the end of this season.

I must admit, I was surprised when I read that, we all know Feasty's capabilities with the ball in his hands up in the forward lines
Seriously though, I thought he'd be better as a ruck coach but good luck to him in his future coaching endeavours...

Is he leaving as well, that will be a huge loss for Glenelg if true and very hard to replace a quality CHB and FB.

Yes, aparently he and his wife are keen to take a year off and travel around the world doing charity work...
With their 2 key defensive posts gone, the Bays will be desperate for some key position players in terms of recruiting...

Im glad Nathan Grima has kept his spot on the Kangaroos list otherwise the Bays would make a massive play for him, and throw everything they have at it.
