Where For Your Club In 2009

Postby dash61 » Wed Nov 12, 2008 1:30 pm

Forget about un-named recruits, as a member or supporter what is your expectations of 2009, what would be a successful year and what would be a failure

West Adelaide
We must not finish bottom, 5 years in a row would be a JOKE, we must win 6-8 games and at least finish 7th-8th, even with the retirements and exodous of some players there should be no more excuses

fair call but with the cattle you had last year and no major recruits and a negative coach it could be a long year :(

My expectations for North are to play finals. Anything less is a failure.

also heard that westies have lost a few young lads from the club, Eg Buckley. I thought he was a good young talent
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

I would say finals....

But after you make the finals, anything less than a Grand Final will be a disappointment.
After you make a Grand Final, anything less than a premiership will be a disappointment.

Premiership for the Redlegs in 2009 is the only way I'll finish the year without disappointment.

Thats the trouble, everyone has overated our promising kids since Rehn's day, some of the young talent we have or thought we have are just barely average footballers and Buckley is one of them, Ill name 4 players that would possibly get a game at other top clubs, 1 Fergusson 2 Cupiddo 3 Willitts 4 Piasente, a squad with only 4 top line players will always struggle. Nathan Brown tried very hard but always seem to be Like Bailey and sprayed the ball and didnt always use it, we have to get at least 6 more top line players before we are considered a better side

Nothing short of a premiership, I'd be disappointed.

You're right, but an improvement from 4th would mean top 3... Once you're in the top 3 a premiership should be in your sights.

We have 7-10 highly rated kids at the moment but who knows, the draft could take anything from 3-7 players

Demands of winnings a flag are unfair on any playing group. Obviously that's the aim of all clubs but all you can do is give yourself the best chance you can to do the job. On the day anything can happen, both good and bad. So my expectation is a top minor round finish with a view to having the lads in good form, with good run in the legs and any minor injuries managed through the last 6 weeks so as to not wreck a season chasing a couple of minor round goals.

I'll help dash out.

Hamish Hartlett - will be drafted top 5 to 10.

Rhys Stanley - 200cm ruckman

Matthew Martin - key defender

Tyson Slattery - athletic defender/wingman.

The above 4 all attended the AFL Draft Camp. (4 of the 14 from SA)

Scott Blesing - defender/on-baller, attended State Screening

Daniel Webb - key forward (10 marks against North at league level in the last game last year).

Taite Silverlock - small forward, kicked 9 goals at junior level twice last year.

Johnno Beech - wingman, BOG at Reserves level late last year.

Ryan Nickolls - tall forward/defender

Danny Sukkel - solid on-baller.

All of these except Nickolls played league last year.

I've probably forgotten one or two more, so dash can correct that, but I'd say at least 3 will be drafted.
