Best Quarter by an Individual Player?

Big call but I and a lot of others at Adelaide Oval think Gill's 2nd quarter tonight was the best we've ever seen by an individual player.
I've seen D Jarman play some rippers but tonight's effort by Gill took the cake.
Any other miraculous quarter by other players others can remember?
PS Its not as though the rest of the game was ordinary by Gill, far from it, its just the 2nd qtr was freakish. He was the furthest in front BOG I've seen for a long long long long time.

I've been trying to think of a better quarter but i'm struggling. One of the best by Gill tonight. As Bruce would say....................... SPECIAL!

That would be good, but Magareys and Brownlows are for midfielders with no marking ability. Umpires have mindsets against anyone over 6 foot tall

Gill was runner up last year

Yes, I know. He was my pick to win. My point is that taller players miss out on votes they should receive. They have for years. The concept of Magarey Medals has never sat comfortably with me.

I started a similar thread on the Roost. It's definately the best quarter I've ever seen. He won the game with an unbelievable 6 goal burst on a Power player.

That's the ******* sad thing. Thurstans would have to be looking at the end of his AFL career after that.

Gill, what an awesome player, definately the best quarter from an individual player that i've personally seen.
There was a moment where everybody lept to early, and Gill happened to get the jump and outmarked about 4 of them.. it was just plain freakish.
Congrats on a fantastic match, MAJOR future.

Hargs kicked 10 on Perrie a few years ago at Adelaide Oval and he managed to turn it around and is now a regular at one of the best AFL teams around, but I doubt Thurstans will do the same.

From memory Scott Hodges kicked 8 goals in the first quarter of the 1990 Prelim Final against North Adelaide. Match was over at quarter time. He ended with 13 and we won by 15 goals.
His last quarter of the 94 Grand Final was pretty special as well.

Gas Chambers kicked 8 on Paxman a few years back and he was in the Power lineup the next week.

Jamie Stevenson kicked 9 goals on Ben Hart in the foundation cup once and Ben Hart was called up to the Crows the next week and was an AFL All Australian by the end of the year. That was the last time Ben Hart played a game in the SANFL.

Are you sure it was 8? Bit hard to believe, although i'm not saying it didnt happen.

I was there and have no idea but it wouldn't suprise me, Port were something like 13 or 14 goals up in that game early in the 2nd qtr.
Only highlight was Darren Jarman laying out a Port player in the North Western pocket, Mrs Wedgie had only been with me for a few months at that stage but was amazed I got out alive when standing up and applauding DJ for the "tackle" while having hundres of Port fans threaten death upon me.
Ironically I barracked for Port the following week in Wangas last game for the Magpies (before today).

Eugene Warriors last quarter in the 1997 reserves Grand Final was pretty good.
Not in the same class I know but it's a shame he couldn't switch on like that a bit more often.

Gill is definitely an exciting player. Very hard to match up on. His kicking was a bit of a problem last year wasn't it? It seems fine so far this year. His "blogs" on the nafc website are a crack up as well!

Does anyone know the background to Gill as far as:
Was he on an AFL list? (i'm pretty sure he was??)...if so how long? Which club? Did he play any AFL games?
