Congratulations to the following winners from last night's "Golden Whistle" awards...

Sam Hay won his first Golden Whistle, adjudged the best umpire in the SANFL.

Sam, an AFL rookie umpire, officated in his 3rd League Grand Final earlier this month and was also involved in the State League game between SA and VIC back in May.

Congratulations also to boundary umpire Shane Thiele for winning the "Silver Whistle" while goal umpire Matthew Cummins took home the award for the best goal umpire.

Well done to all the winners, thoroughly deserved recipients.

I guess it's called the 'Golden Whistle' because of golden officiating. Well done to Tony Dey for taking out the 'Brown Whistle'...

I reckon either Richard Williams or CR should have Umpired the GF ahead of TP.
