Postby Old but Smart Dog » Wed Oct 15, 2008 9:33 pm

Well being a Centrals supporter I just can't go past the great John Duckworth..wonderful player..more recently though you couldn't go past the Gowan's..7 flags - say no more...Anyway who are some others that come to mind?

well Glenelg have never drafted anyone....

Arguably our best recruit (as opposed to someone we developed i.e. came through the juniors) Graham Cornes....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

For the dogs the Gowans boys are hard to beat. For 9 seasons going on 10, helping instill the spirit and culture into the team, big game players and (I've been told), believe it or not, both Gowans boys are in Centrals top ten goal kickers ever. One should hit 200 games next year and the other should just miss.

Then of course Johnny Duckworth, Marco Bello, Phil Haughan,

From Port, I dont think you could go past the trio of Bob Mclean from Norwood, Fos Williams from West and Jack Cahill from South. Arguably the three most important people in the clubs history.

Since ive been alive, id say the three which have had the most impact would be Russell Johnston, Brian Leys and Jeremy Clayton.

I think overall Port have been served well over the years from recruits, especially through our successful era in the 80s/90s. Weve had plenty more hits than misses.
