Norwood coaching position

Thought I'd open up a thread on this here, as us Norwood supporters have been banned from discussing it on the Redlegs forum, as the brand must be protected :-# [-X

My views, before being stripped from the view of the world, was that on balance I thought Trevor Hill deserved to stay the final year of his contract (most others Redlegs fans we in agreement. By finishing 4th, it was a significant improvement over the last few seasons at Norwood, and probably a bit better than most people here thought we'd do. In all honesty I thought we were about the equal of Port & Eagles in 2008, and maybe just a touch better than North. The concern that whilst each of these clubs played some great games, none played quite as poorly as Norwood did on a few occasions. Surely the coaches job is to get the best out of the players consistantly, and as such, it's hard to say Trevor has done a great job. In the media, he doesn't come across as very inspiring, so hope that is different in his addresses to the players, hard to say from here in the UK! But I do commend him on his very frequent appearances on the various radio shows, his efforts there are greatly appreciated by supporters like myself, as is his honesty.

Having said all that, there is no way in the world the club would ever replace Trevor for next year, but it's nice to be able to discuss things, isn't it :?: 8-[

Being a loud mouthed one eyed Eagles fan you have a right to say what you like.and if you are a payed up member more so.
Just think back you scored 1 goal in 1 game and then thrashed the eagles by 50 points (i think) the next. If you guys were professional bike riders some dope testing would have happened

I'm not all that interested in discussing the Norwood coaching unless the club announces Trevor Hill won't be there in 2009. I said my piece in another thread at the end of Norwood's season.

My understanding is it was considered Norwood showed sufficient improvement in the latter part of the season, including the efforts against Glenelg at the Bay and then Port Adelaide in the Elimination Final to secure his job for next season ..... however, you wonder if people leaning this way were at all swayed by our lamentable performance in the 1st Semi against Sturt.

I think we're trying to out do North for fickleness.

Honestly, the man cant win. One minute he is bagged for not blooding youngsters and when he does, he is bagged for inconsistency and poor match results. I commend him on taking the job because who in their right mind would want to be a league coach?

We have a host of 23 and under players (unlikely to be drafted to AFL) that could form the core of a very successful and consistent team in years to come.

A lot of people tell me I'm an optimist. You have to be. Otherwise why support your team and attend games?

Big Phil looks nothing like the inimitable PHILH

As for Trevor I say he's as good a mentor as any SANFL Coach.

Well done in getting Norwood a Finals' Berth in 2008 too. :D
